Called in after seeing they offered vegan options, a few days earlier when we walked the Pikes and so after finishing a walk up Lingmoor we called in for lunch. We ordered garlic mushrooms and peacamole on sourdough toast with skin on fries. The food was delicious, lovely sourdough toast, loved the peacmole idea, although the skin on fries priced at £3.25 are way overpriced for the portion size. Service was friendly and efficient. Would definitely revisit. Revisited again today for lunch after a tough walk in the freezing wet weather.. Ordered two cauliflower wings, hash browns and fries with two pints of Helles lager. Absolutely delicious food, substantial and satisfying..love this place.

Great place for a pub and it's a really nice one, too. Sitting on the terrace with a pint after a hot, tiring day on the Langdale Pikes was very welcome. It will be even better when they can serve food again too many staff had been Covid pinged for them to be able to open the kitchen.

A delightful place to relax and eat, the Stickleback Barn serves best food we had in the Lake District and at reasonable prices. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful, we would highly recommend a visit.

Lovely walk around Bowfell. Quiet paths with nice places for food and drink around. Beautiful part of the lakes that isn’t inundated with crowds. A must for a peaceful hike, lunch or stay.
