Wow. Ok. This has to be a hidden gem amongst the row of restaurants there. However, be warned. Hawkers food this is not. This place caters actually for the westernized chinese tongue. However, in the midst of all these, comes hidden gems of traditional Chinese food.
We came to this place as Taurus is now horribly bad and bamboo was packed. When we got there on a Saturday, the place was deserted. All up in the hour we were there about 8 other people went in to order. Undetered we went about the menu. Their hawkers specials does indeed look authentic. However as we ordered a combination bbq rice and it was unavailable we decided to order share food instead.

We arrived, checked the menu out and decided to try their food.. As soon as we were seated a very friendly lady came over with a plate of prawn crackers, a great start, then saw I was having wine and asked how many glasses we...wanted. My husband was drinking beer so we just asked for one glass, promptly brought to us. Picked our dishes and were delighted when they arrived. Salt and pepper squid and garlic seafood combination with just one portion of steamed rice. The portions were so large we were unable to finish them, despite them being delicious! So we have just finished them off as an entree to our evening meal tonight! (The next night) Friendly service, good food, no nasty after effect...
eating in singapur can be a costly thing, but if they save some money and still try a great meal, the Heuker centers that are distributed during their trip, they will find the food centers around the local areas and offer them. a large number of meals to a fraction of the price calculate the most important tourist areas. they are not chic, but like any where are clean in singapur, have sitting opportunities under deck and normally have fans to keep the temperature up to a pleasant level, they offer a great choice of dressing and eating is good that we always made to feel welcome.
It's been over four years since my last visit, came in today (Wednesday) for lunch. I was done this way after shopping nearby. The interior has been updated with new furniture and paint it looks good inside. Enjoyed the BBQ Pork wonton noodle soup...(Dry) for lunch this particular dish is still the same...generous and tasty ...quite good. The meal was half eaten by the time I remembered to take a photo...Ah well. Staff are friendly and service quite prompt no complaints. Recommended if you are nearby.

This place used to be great and was always busy with locals. Since the new owners have taken over it’s always empty. Food orders get mixed up and wrong dishes arrive at the table. No music and when asked why, they told us the squirrels...had eaten the wiring. I nearly died as we don’t have squirrels in this area so it must have been rats. No thanks will never eat here again. Such a shame as they used to serve the best Laksa in town.
In the chinese district there is a number of opportunities to eat very well. But don’t loose a chance to eat at Michelin awarded restaurant there in the Singapore Hawker Chinese Food food court. You can find this restaurant easy as there is a queue...of people waiting there to order. It’s worst to wait there as well. We enjoyed the chicken with rise and nudles very much.
First thing I notice is that the decor is very below average, but it is only a hawker so you really shouldn't expect much in terms of setting. The fried rice in my opinion is one of the best that i've had and the squid was the perfect texture. I loved the food and the only reason it is not getting a 5 from me is because of the unpleasant scene.
singapur hawkers are one of the best in town. we have recently taken and we could taste a difference in their eating that I have read since that they have changed their own. such a taste because it tastes much better with one. order lots of people, with much more options for willetton and canning vale I would take my money elsewhere.
