If I could neg star a place this would be it. Came in through what appeared to be the front but ended up being the back. Walked past the bar into the dining room past multiple people I assumed were waitresses sat down and waited 20 minutes before I heard a cashier tell a elderly couple that they needed place thier order at the desk then seat themselves.I then went to desk and politely mentioned that I had been sitting 20 minutes and no one had mentioned it was self-service and got a snarky reply about the fact the world had changed and 99 percent of everybody knew it.Placed my order including a drink , had my appetizer and waited was not brought the drink I paid for but was brought the appet...
I think a lot of people must be hallucinating because I think this place is the bees knees! I was greeted coming in (15 min before closing mind you) and told how it works. I asked if it was okay to dine in and the woman was so gracious about it. 12/10 the best steak I’ve ever had on the road! Marinated ribeye is without question one of the best steaks I’ve ever had other than the ones I make at home. Max and cheese was nothing to write home about but it was good and not overcooked. Cornbread and diner rolls were great as well only qualm is they aren’t served hot but they taste great. The lady was so friendly she actually wouldn’t let me get my own drink other than the first time! Then again...
Pro tip ; there’s no at your table ordering here. First get your drink at the drink station, then pick your table. Then decide what you want from the table menu and go up to the register station to order, OR, go directly to the cafeteria style food counter and get what you like. Meats sold by the quarter pound so you can mix match. I strongly suggest look over both options for the most choices. Food is very good here. Holding back a star for poor signage explaining all this at the entrance, and worse, watching a lot of people just sitting down and waiting for a server that never comes, with no guidance from the employees. A simple sign at every table would fix this awkward problem.
As a otr driver I can really appreciate a traditional restaurant without going home. Good beer (local brews) everything seems to be sourced locally which I personally like. High quality beef and bacon worth the price hands down. Got the texas Twinkie burger it was good just wouldn’t order another burger with cream cheese to be honest but I had to try it
What a COMPLETE DISAPPOINTMENT! I used to look forward to eating here, now it’s just a cafeteria with HORRIBLE food. $60.00 foot hard dried out chicken, brisket that they couldn’t even cut right, vegetables were ok if you don’t mind them COLD. By the time they ring it up it’s cold. I will no longer stop here I will find something else
OTR : Best stop I’ve had in awhile! Better than most homemade meals.Competitive brisket pork with hometown KC stuff. Spicy corn is great too! Wife got the cowboy Carl burger that was great as well. Friendly, fast, and much better quality than I’ve witnessed at truck stops.Will be returning every time I run this way!
The bar and drinks are great and prices are very reasonable..BBQ SUCKS !!!! And that putn it mildly lol....The burgers are good though , and the staff are down to earth friendly and fun to chat with.... The bar closes too early so enjoy while.its open.. I stop by here several times a year.... GEAUX TIGERS !!!
It was OK ...I got the steak sanmmich . As you can see it's a 7oz steak on top of 4 pieces of bread . The brussel sprouts were decent . You look at the place and expect more . I would eat here again but order something else . Just kinda disappointed . ?
Great food but horrible service. Nobody greets ya, let's ya guess to get your own drink and find a seat then sat for more than 15 min before the server acknowledged me or 3 other tables. Wasn't even busy either
