Smitty's Family Restaurant is the equivalent of Denny's (in the USA), which serves up typical Canadian breakfast, lunch, and dinner fare anytime. We stopped here during our brief stay in Truro around breakfast time on a cloudy Saturday. The small parking lot was very full and the place was very busy. We were seated immediately and offered hot coffee. My travel buddy got the Seniors' Breakfast, 1 scrambled egg, 2 strips of bacon, and 2 two pancakes, which were very thick. I was untraditional and got the Sweet Sour Chicken breast served with rice, broccoli cauliflour, lettuce tomato. The chicken breast was drenched in a sickly sweet sticky red sauce. The food was okay, nothing really outstandi...
Great diner-like restaurant. Reminds me of Denny's in the states. The staff was very friendly and efficient. There was a wide array of breakfast options (and lunch/dinner) although we were there for breakfast. They also have all day breakfast options. We got The breakfast special (2 eggs, sausage or bacon and pancakes or baked beans) and the spinach and Swiss omelet. Both were amazingly tasty. The pancakes were fluffy and not overly sweet which received a 10 in my opinion! Prices are reasonable for the quality and quantity of food. The breakfast special is especially a reasonable option if you arrive in the AM.
We stopped here for lunch. They have a large menu and great variety. Very clean and friendly. Good service, nice atmosphere. Service was quick and food was good. Prices were not too bad. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to friends.
Fast service and glad to see the Hubtown Special is still being offered! Great value for the money! With a choice of home style beans you can make this a healthy quick stop to fuel up!
