Haven't eaten at this long established restaurant inside Northwoods Mall since it was a set down restaurant with waitress/waiters to wait on you. The experience was much different then as it is now after the restaurant was reconfigured intoa walk up, order and set down yourself style with plastic silverware, etc. They have a very large menu and have weathered thepandemic ordeal well it seems or they wouldn't have been able to expand and continue in business. They removed the cozy, dimly-lit atmosphere that the restaurant used to have and replaced it with a cheap, fast-casual vibe where you stand to order and deal with salt and pepper packets, and ketchup packets. The only reason I rated it 3 stars is because the food was still decent. However, I won’t be returning, which is disappointing! They’ve transformed it into a personal food court, while people used to enjoy it precisely because it wasn’t like that. I’m really let down and wouldn’t be surprised if they go out of business soon.
The food was sooooo good. Like i couldnt take a picture i ate it so fast. Ribs fall off the bone, fries crispy and hot, pulled meats juicy and delicious. 10/10 couldnt be happier or more full. I visited this restaurant while in town for a sporting event, and it was exceptional. The service, food, and value were all impressive. I can't wait to return next time I'm in the area. I was unsure what to expect since it's located in a mall, but don't let that deter you. Give it a chance; you won't regret it! Book a table now
I ordered takeout, and my food was ready when I arrived. The rib tips were absolutely fantastic! Overall, I would rate the food 5 out of 5, the service 5 out of 5, and the atmosphere 5 out of 5. For a dinner, it cost around $20–30 per person. I highly recommend the Baked Beans, BBQ Sauce, Fries, and Ribs!
The pork was not smoked and turned out to be dry and stringy; the only highlight was the toasted bun, which didn’t justify the price. The chicken was mediocre at best, the sweet potatoes tasted canned and lacked flavor. Overall, I was not impressed, sorry.
Every time I’ve eaten here since it opened, I’ve never had a complaint. I believe you all just started serving mac and cheese, but I find it a bit too runny and the noodles are too mushy. However, I do have a great recipe for southern-style mac and cheese!
