My family and I go to Shank's quite frequently and always enjoy the service and food there. I was particularly impressed recently when we chose Shank's for our Mother's Days dinner. The staff quickly accommodated our party of 10 people by pushing two of their round tables together. Despite it being a holiday, they offered their full menu, which has a lot of different options. We got three appetizers--antipasto, pork dumplings, and buffalo wings--all of which were great and can give you a sense of the variety they offer. Today we went for lunch. it was about 1pm a few peeps at the bar and one other group of 3 at a table. We were seated quickly by the same person who waited on us. We ordered one drink and after that we were basically forgotten about several times. The food took a long time and some of it was cold. If we didn't have a younger person with us we would have sat at the bar and gotten excellent service from the bartender who was very attentive and we utilized to find our lost server more than once. I'm sure it's not a bad place overall, but the waiter/waitress can really make or break an experience and in this case it was broken in many pieces!
We ordered takeout on a Saturday night. The order was ready promptly. The buffalo chicken wings were very heavy on the batter but had good flavor served with super chunky blue cheese dressing. The steak cheese spring rolls were tasty but the dipping sauce was unidentifiable. Not blue cheese or ranch and the consistency of mayo? The beet salad was a little bland we wished we had an extra dressing. The chopped salad was plentiful good the chunky blue cheese dressing again was good. Though it wasn't remarkable we will go back try sitting at the bar and give them a second chance to Wow us. Portions were generous.
First time at this country club, it is hidden in Halifax. We enjoyed food overlooking the golf course and a huge bar behind us with heaters. We are turkey tips, sliders,stuffed quahog and chicken Parmesan.
