I was in town for a family wedding and decided to grab some lunch. Upon arriving, I noticed they had three handicap parking spots, which was a good sign. However, when I walked up to the counter to read the menu posted above, the staff member didn’t even acknowledge my presence.
A couple of women came in right before us and started chatting with people they knew without even approaching the counter. After we had been standing there for about 5-6 minutes, the middle-aged employee finally came around the counter and informed us, in a rude tone, that if we wanted to order, it would have to be to-go food. There was no explanation given, and then she just turned and went back behind the counter....
I am a frequent customer of St. Louis Bread company/Panera and this was by far, my most disappointing visit to one of the locations. I went in to grab a gift card on Fathers Day because my sister said they were 20% off. When I arrived, there was nobody at the register. The lady by the oven kept calling out to one of the workers who was clearly wiping down tables while on a personal phone call. She called over 3 different times and the worker on the phone continued to ignore her request. After another 5-10 minutes (as the line got progressively longer) I asked if someone could help at the register. Someone finally walked over and acted like he was completely unaware of the gift card promotion...
The experience was almost perfect. My mother ordered a sandwich, and they were made of hummus and didn't put anything on their sandwich without even telling her they were out and she was too embarrassed to get another product or ask for a replacement and she wouldn't let me speak in her name, so I thought I would mention it here. She felt too uncomfortable to either ask for a different item or a substitute, and she wouldn't let me speak up for her, so I thought I'd bring it up here. Bread Co locations are renowned for their excellent service and food, and this particular one stands out. The food quality is impressively consistent. Additionally, they are nearing the completion of the road construction out front, which will make accessing the restaurant a lot easier.
I frequently come to this restaurant for lunch. The staff is always warm and welcoming, the food is consistently fresh, and the place is spotless. It's a reliable and fantastic choice for a midday meal!
