an absolute jewel. I visited this charming pub with its interior and a good ninety-year-old friend in the wheelchair. first impressions are so important, and as one of the masters has stopped the door for us with a welcoming smile, we felt at home immediately. the staff was very friendly and, although they do not serve guinness, the house stout was a very nice replacement. the food was presented very well and my fish and chips were as good as anyone I cost. when the natives heard that in the second world war george was in the raf with one of the local characters of the city (harry cottrell), he became the toast of the pubs. it made georges week.
