"Fab location and some marked vegan options on the menu (including vegan ice). National Trust run, friendly staff and good prices. I like how it generates the kg of CO2 next to any menu item could consider some customers order Vege instead!"

This is a fantastic spot for hiking enthusiasts, as it is conveniently located near the stunning Longdale Valley, which offers numerous beautiful trails. The atmosphere here is relaxed and casual, making it a great place to unwind after a hike. The food is excellent as well, including some vegan options. I tried the aubergine curry and the vegan brownie, both of which were delicious.

Several clearly marked vegan options on the menu, including a proper dessert of crumble and ice cream! Staff were really on board with changes to the menu to expand the vegan selection. They talked about the carbon footprint of vegan options as being far better than local meat, and therefore in line with the sustainability goals of the National Trust

The National Trust website states that the pub's operating lease ended in March 2023, and they are currently seeking a new operator. Before you plan your visit, please verify whether the pub has re-opened and if they offer a variety of vegan options.
