We had an early reservation at pm which was after the matinee at the Opera House. The venue was empty and we were seated right away downstairs. The server took our drink order and food order, and our food came out quickly. However, the food was not as great as all the reviews I saw. My husband had the duck, which he said was tasty but very salty, as if it were overbrined. Our dinner companion had the gnocchi, who said the sauce was tasty but the gnocchi were very heavy and chewy. I had the lobster mac and cheese which was literally a boxed mac and cheese swimming in a milk sauce with some frozen lobster pieces thrown in. Service was horrible, there was not enough waitstaff. Our waiter was not attentive at all. We waited minutes for the check. We were charged for a drink we did not order. Coffee was served cold and we told a women who was filling water glasses at our table about the coffee. She said she could not help us, as she was the hostess and then she walked away
My first time at Stoddard’s. I thought it would be nicer inside. Basically it’s an old bar with food. Sticky table, wrinkled, stained menu, attentive waitress, energetic crowd. Had a stomach ache after eating tasty short ribs with sweet potato purée. Husband had steak tips. Not interested in returning

Food was disappointing small portions and overly charred on a few things. Service was great but tables are jammed in so we were right on top of our neighbors and it was hard to have a conversation
My boyfriend and I visited this restaurant before a show (pre-COVID) and decided to sit in the bar area. The food was excellent and the drinks prepared by Joe were outstanding!
I've been going here for years and it's gone downhill, party of and meals were either wrong or cold. It's a good spot for a drink but I'm definitely not eating here again
