I’ve been there once, food was great last time esp the pork belly tapas was memorable so I went back for it. However it became one of the worst dishes of the night. The crackling was rubbery salty, unlike last time, it was crispy not as salty. They charge $24 for 4 small cubes, not really worth the money. I hate restaurants inconsistent in their food. The other bad dish we had was the meatballs. It was dry (both outside inside) and a bit of gamey taste. <br/ <br/ Apart from that two tapas, everything was good. The Bacalao salt cod croquettes were tasty freshly prepared. The chicken fillets rump was tender with charred taste. Seafood paella was al dente but a tad salty, still bearable. <br/...

When the floor staff gently insist that we do the taste test of the second bottle of the same wine, then that is great service!Of course the second bottle was just as good as the first. It was a Spanish Grenache Tempranillo - smooth easy to drink. So we've lunched here a few times, and each time it's been excellent. Great attentive, knowledgeable and helpful service..The tapas is very good - pork belly cubes has the crunchy skin; rice balls with cheese is well flavoured; stuffed zucchini flowers is bit cheesy. The menu list is long enough so we must come back. The room is great for business lunch or even a romantic dinner.
Looking for somewhere to book the last minute, and came across Subsolo. Easy booking for 7:30pm for group of friends from work. Staff were very attentive and looked after us well. Food was wonderful, esp. the meat skewers were tender and the platter cold meat/cheese was really good. We ordered to too much food! Then we had dessert on top of that. By the time we left closing, we were full. Only downfall was the music was too loud and we had trouble chatting amongst ourselves. Our table was just next to one of the speakers. Price was reasonable. Just over $60/head a good night out!
If you like tapas Subsolo is a must.<br/ We went on a weekday and didn’t book- luckily the place is pretty large and most people were at the bar. <br/ <br/ The drinks were lovely, I had the best sangria I’ve ever had. The food menu is big and I felt there was something for everyone. The patatas bravas with aioli were amazing! <br/ <br/ My only gripe was the slight smell of fat- however I understand that it’s difficult to ventilate an underground restaurant. <br/ <br/ I will be back next time I’m in Sydney for sure, there’s a lot more on the menu for me to try!<br/ <br/ Book a table now
I went to Subsolo for my birthday dinner three weeks ago. The staff were very friendly, the atmosphere was warm, and the decoration was nice. The food was delicious, as we chose three dishes from the menu. I highly recommend trying the meat skewers as your main course. We had one lamb skewer and one beef skewer, and both were very tasty.
Amazing service, ambiance and food! Bruno was the staff served us and delighted us helping in menu selection... Multiple options for Veg and Non Veg!! Dim lights perfect for a date and talking... Restaurant is an absolute gem and must visit for dates and special occasions. Will come again for another date :) with my wife again ..!!
Subsolo is a Spanish tapas restaurant located in Sydney's CBD. I recently visited to celebrate a friend's birthday, as he was craving paella. While most of the food was delicious as always, the paella was just average. The wait staff were friendly and they make a fantastic sangria.
The service was great, the restaurant had a charming atmosphere and the food was delicious. It's a good spot for hanging out with friends or going on a date. The location is convenient, so make sure to book ahead. The prices are affordable and I will definitely be returning. Book a table now
I spent the last summer in Spain... Lunch times usually meant tapas or a bocadillo with jamon. Which is why I was so excited to try Subsolo. This would be my first flashback to #thatsummerinspain. But before we go on, a Sangria please!
Went earlier in the evening. Cocktails were decent but not cutting edge. Food was nice but again not my most amazing meal. Service was great though and server was very nice.
