For me, the name Sunflower conjures the image of a bright colourful freshly scented flower that gives me a warm feeling and places a smile on my face. The recent dining experience with my family at the Sunflower Vietnamese Restaurant in Croydon Park South Australia has given me that very same experience.I had on a number of occasions driven past this restaurant and noticed it was always full of diners. The other night it was a last minute decision to phone and make a booking for 5 people. When we arrived we were greeted in a friendly manner and guided to our table. The setting is very Vietnamese with the usual wall displays and there is a glass waterfall at the entrance. The menu has the usual...

Dined at the Sunflower for Father's Day, and was pretty disappointed by the overall experience. While some of the dishes were pretty good - special mention to the hot and sour Vietnamese soup and fish hotpot. Along with the soup and hotpot we ordered the Chinese broccoli, Scallops with X.O sauce (which is normally a favourite when dining out, but in this instance was gravely disappointing), and crispy skin chicken, all of which were subpar. To top it off the steamed rice was undercooked to the point where grains were getting stuck in the grooves of my teeth when I chewed. I ordered a smoothie which did not even make it to my table as i cancelled it (after waiting over 45 minutes I went up to...

Food was okay. Came here last Thursday on the 17th for my sister's birthday. She arrived before us and sat down and was ignored. Had to walk up to the desk and grab a menu for the rest of the party to have a look at. Service was poor and was hardly service. They seemed like they were entertaining other diners instead of us, we were a table of 8 while the tables they were entertaining had only 1-4. Many occasions we needed assistance but were hardly given attention. I waited 4-5 minutes for one of the waiters, but she was busy talking to a customer on the next table and yet I still failed to get her attention. Signalled the other lady from across the restaurant just for water. Dessert tasted...

Took my mother here for an expected nice dinner which turned out to be a complete dissapointnent!Service was unfriendly, food was very slow coming out.Restaurant was incredibly noisy! Bottles and drinks were being dropped. Our appetiser didn't come out at all, had to ask for it after we'd finished our main meal.Eftpos not working, had to sit and wait before leaving.VERY overpriced! My mother ordered a barramundi and she received a muddy flavoured fish with hardly any fish on it- mostly bone, no vegetables at the cost of almost $40! Would not EVER go back again Book a table now

Very decent place. The waiting staff is much better than what you expect in this kind of a place - attentive and well trained. The food was definitely plentiful and quite good. My crocodile was somewhat overdone (blame it on the "sizzling platter" - small hint for the chef - make sure it's slightly underdone before it's served, the meat will still cook on the very hot, sizzling plate). The wine list was surprisingly good and well priced.Definitely one of the better suburbat eateries. Recommended.

Friends selected this restaurant for catch up. Mostly due to where folks lived it was BYO and offered easy parking. There were 8 of us in all. The decor was very grey and devoid of any ambience. I'd give all the dishes selected about 2 stars. I walked away feeling hungry and looking forward to toast at home for supper. At $70 per couple .. $280 in total , I'd suggest go elsewhere.

I've left Adelaide a few times to live interstate and overseas and every time I come home, I beg my family to take me to Sunflower.
