Edit: If this was my first visit I would give it one star but since it was my second (and the first was great) I'll adjust it to 2. Firstly the waiter came and sprayed off the table next to us with what smelled like an ammonia-based cleaner. In his carelessness he sprayed my son's shirt. Then he ran off very quickly before we could even say anything. When our waiter came back over we reported it and he said he would talk to the other guy about his mindfulness. My son's shirt had discolored little markings on it by the time we got home. The food we ordered this time was delicious but at the bottom of my husband's water glass was unmistakably a dead bug. We have dined at the Sunken Well Tavern for dinner before, but we wanted to experience their brunch today. Being a Sunday in downtown, they were understandably busy! We were quickly seated in the bar area and immediately given menus. I was thrilled to see the brunch specials for the day, as there were so many tempting options! I ordered the Country Fried Steak and the Western Omelette, both of which were delicious and came in generous portions. The country fried steak was packed with flavor, the cheesy potatoes were delightful, and my eggs were cooked perfectly. Next time we visit, I want to try the stuffed poblano. Classic Ruben sandwich highly recommended! Great Sandwich! Side order of fries was good but almost nonexistent for the price of the combo. Chintz serving amount. Server greeted us from behind when we entered the restaurant and then pointed to a seat in the front corner we could take. Pretty shabby way to seat your guests. After the food was delivered, server never returned to ask how our meal was. Server only returned when our meal was finished to pick up plates then asked if everything was ok! Not a favorable experience at this establishment. Too bad because a couple previous experiences here favored much higher. We'll give em another shot though.
Waited at table for approximately 20 min …. Then gave order to a guy named Josh …. Had to ask later for mor E coffee from a different server …. Had to ask for to go container from different server …. The Meal !!! Horrid ,,, French Toast came out cold , sausage links were cold , grits cold , and potatoes hot You can not run a restaurant with servers waiting on tables from outside to inside … they need stations set up … I ran a restaurant for 20 years in New Jersey …. I know how it goes …. Oh and you should tell Josh to wipe the sweat off when going to a table Overall bad experience Remember good service means very good tips ! Book a table now
Had a great time here. Just popped in for lunch while on a 500 mile road trip. Felt like I was at my local watering hole. Staff was friendly as could be, food was spot on and cooked as ordered, I had 2 drinks and they were as I would expect for a Jameson and diet (I don't drink fancy things lol). Had a decent conversation with the bartender and staff and felt like I had been going there 3x a week for 5 years by the time I left. It was exactly the kind of thing you'd kill for when you are missing your local bar back home.
Incredible restaurant! I enjoyed my meal so quickly that I forgot to take a picture! The vegetables are sourced from the local Snead's farm. Allie was an outstanding server! Update: I remembered to snap some photos of my burger this time. Allie was fantastic once again, and her trainee, Maeve, was great too. This place truly serves the best food in FXBG!
Love a good night out at Sunken Well. The food is wonderful. You may think this is a dive bar, but the culinary expertise will make you come back over and over again! It's not just a turkey sandwich, it's an in-house roasted turkey breast, thinly sliced and piled high with homemade chutneys. And I can't speak enough about the homemade pickles!!!!!!!
