Wow! This restaurant just gets better and better (if that’s possible! Absolutely the best Indian food in Melbourne! We cannot recommend Swaad highly enough. Meat platter was just amazing, succulent and juicy morsels of chicken tikka, chicken Tandoori, Tandoori lamb chops and sheekh kebab. Breads...were so impressive, again highly recommend the onion kulcha and chilli garlic naan. Mains of butter chicken and lamb bhuna, rounded out with chicken biryani, raita and lovely mango pickle! The 3 of us had dinner here. Always fun to find out a place close to home we didn't try and even better when we enjoy it. The place feels authentic or even a family-owned. Can suite well casual dinner with family or friends. Food...is good and reasonably priced. I had the fish masala that was very good. They also have a few Vegan options including Vegan Na'an. Service was a bit slow but not too bad. All in all a good experience that will bring us back again.
This is a hidden gem. It’s easy to find an Indian Restaurant with lots of vegetarian options but not as many for vegan options. Our host went to great lengths to explain what was vegan friendly. The food (vegan and non vegan dishes) was fresh...and of good quality. The price was a bit high but I recommend going here especially if you want vegan options
Swaad's cost a bit more than other Indian Restaurants in the area and the effort put into the food is worth it. The Samosas and butter chicken were very nice but unfortunately my favourite dish of Beef Vindaloo was missing the middle notes. It was...spicy/hot, (which I like) but unfortunately that signature vindaloo flavour was absent.
