Last night, we had a few hours to spare, and while I was enjoying a flight at a local brewery, Lisa spontaneously called at 5 and made a 6 o’clock reservation on the patio. When we arrived, we were taken aback by the stunning appearance of the Inn and its grounds. The Swiss Hutte is an old farmhouse built in the mid-1800s and has been operating as an Inn for the last 50 years. The restaurant's interior was exactly what you would expect—a cozy atmosphere perfect for dinner and drinks after a day of winter skiing or fall hiking. Since we prefer outdoor dining six months out of the year, the view from the patio was absolutely picture-perfect. We started with two appetizers: escargot served pip...

Lovely patio with several space heaters, surrounded by a nice garden, then parking lots, then a pretty hill. Wildly overpriced for good, but not as good as homemade, food--like a high-end Sodexo cafeteria. The lamb was overcooked and rather tough; the steak 's grill marks, which might have been applied by the food vendor somehow (just on one side) tasted bitter and nasty. The veggies accompanying our lamb and steak were indistinguishable from a frozen precut bag steamed in the microwave. In fact, we honestly think that 's what they were. The potato side dish was quite buttery and tasty. The espresso was undrinkable. My sense is this would have been considered quite a good restaurant in, say,...
My husband (German and myself as well as my family who have a vacation home in Hillsdale, love the Swiss Hutte. We have had many memorable meals here over the years. In the warmer season you can enjoy al fresco dining. In the fall the beautiful foliage views and winter of course the ski slopes and cozy environment. The food is always spot on and Cindy always seems to seat us in the perfect quiet location. I love the salad- and crave it! I'm dying to know the secret pickled vegetable (I have to remember to ask next time! I think it may be celery root.. Cindy is a lovely host and we always look forward to going back regardless of the holiday or occasion. I tend to order the polenta with mushro...
This is hands down the most stunning and elegant hotel/restaurant I've ever visited. The owners, Cindy and her husband, are incredible! The staff is exceptionally trained and knows how to explain the menu options. The food is absolutely out of this world! Listening to the server describe the amazing and diverse selection of desserts is such a treat; they are all freshly made on site! I can only say that if you pass by this place, you’re missing out on one of life’s greatest experiences! My mother and I always cherish our time with Cindy, her husband, and the entire staff. Lastly, whatever you need, day or night, they will do their best to accommodate you! Looking forward to seeing you all so... Book a table now
I dined with three companions, and we all chose different appetizers, entrees, and desserts, each of which was memorable. The staff was attentive, friendly, and highly skilled—particularly noteworthy considering we were a discerning crowd from NYC. We stayed at the inn, where the accommodations were clean, comfortable, inviting, and perfectly cozy on a frigid February night. Rarely have I visited an out-of-town restaurant and felt certain I would return. I know I'll be back to Swiss Hutte without a doubt. P.S. Don’t miss the chance to meet Bentley, the resident golden retriever, who is tucked away behind a gate and has gathered quite a devoted fan club of his own!
I visited this restaurant over the holiday weekend with my family for dinner, and we were all very pleased with our experience. I ordered the beef medallions, which were cooked to perfection and practically melted in my mouth. We also tried the salmon, a sole entrée that was substituted with sea bass due to a shortage, the prime rib special, and the grilled chicken salad. Everyone enjoyed their meals thoroughly. They usually have many specials, so it’s a good idea to wait until you arrive to hear what they are before deciding on a dish. For dessert, we shared the crème brûlée, which was delicious and plentiful enough for the whole table.
Enjoying a warm summer evening on the charming patio, with a view of the ski lifts on the nearby mountains, I was captivated by the beautiful birds flitting around the flower boxes as I savored the most delightful Continental cuisine I've had on this side of the Atlantic. It took me back to my childhood in Switzerland. Celebrating a birthday weekend, we decided to indulge in the chef’s exquisite desserts, which were a feast for both the palate and the eyes. We spent the entire weekend at the Swiss Hutte, dining there for both dinner and breakfast twice. Everything was simply fabulous.
Not sure why the owner of this establishment is so grumpy. We were considering dining here until we were rudely approached by him yelling at us about having our dog on a leash.. we didn 't have a dog. He also rudely informed us that we were on private property . We were checking out the type of seating they had in the restaurant...I imagine if this is how they treat perspective diners, they must treat you worse once your actually inside the doors. No thank you. Book a table now
Without a doubt, this restaurant is the best in our area. It truly has it all: delicious food, a fantastic atmosphere, excellent service, and great drinks. It's a gem for the Berkshires, especially Hillsdale. This was my first visit, but it certainly won't be my last. We chose to dine indoors since it was a chilly August evening, but the patio looked like it would provide a wonderful dining experience as well. I’ll definitely be back soon!
