Honestly when I went to McAllen, I was expecting to eat some of the best Mexican food of my life. Every sit-down restaurant I went to disappointed me with dry, overcooked meat. The best meal I ate in McAllen was honestly from Pollo Palenque! The chicken was so flavorful! This place is like El Pollo Loco, but so much better! The fresh salsa bar and the free chips seals the deal, and my sides of charro beans and mac salad were both great as well (even though the mac salad had ham in it and I'm really not into that, it was still good). Seems crazy to say about a fast food joint, but if there was one place make a point to eat at again if I'm in McAllen, it's here. Really could use a good scrub-d...
Taco Palenque has definitely gone downhill. The interior is dirty and lacking in cleanliness, with no visible efforts made by the staff to maintain the place. The absence of salsas, pico de Gallo, and limes was disappointing. Additionally, the taste of the meat in the tacos left much to be desired, especially considering the high prices. Overall, I would not suggest this restaurant due to the poor service, unclean environment, and overpriced menu items.
Yesterday, I experienced verbal harassment from a homeless individual at this restaurant. He helped himself to all the chips and salsa and called my friend and me names after we explained we did not have cash on us. I do not carry cash and would suggest this place if you enjoy being mistreated by homeless individuals. I wish the employees luck in handling this situation, as I can imagine it must be uncomfortable for them.
Man handing out food had tattoos on each shoulder and a mustache was really rude by ignoring people calling him for assistance. He came to our table and asked if we needed anything we said yes and asked for napkins and he made a face and walked away. Never brought napkins and other tables were flagging him down and he would ignore them why ask if ur gonna make a face and ignore people

I was in a hurry and I didn't know what to get because it was my first time there the cashier Benny helped choose my food with a big bright smile good greetings. And let me tell you the food was very good. Definitely coming back again I hope to see the sane cashier with the same energy he gave me. 10 out of 10 Would recommed.
Always check your nicely packed bag of food before driving away. I didn't check my bag and after a long day at work, feeling tired and hungry, I drove through the 5 o'clock traffic to arrive home and realize they didn't pack my order correctly. Sigh. I had to drive back and they replaced my meal but not without the hassle.
Very good chicken and ribs, slightly expensive, but worth it!! The sauces are very good, I only recommend some remodeling of the place and it looks old and the bathrooms are dirty! Bon appetit my friends
I absolutely love this restaurant chain. They serve delicious and genuine Mexican cuisine in a casual setting that feels like a home-cooked meal. The prices are very reasonable. I highly recommend it.

I love Palenque chicken very much but on this occasion there were so many flies that I was even hungry.
