After having been lived in england for a year and possessed with Indian food, I knew that I had to find an Indian restaurant here in my home town. I've had Indian food in quite a few countries and including food prepared by Indian chefs. The Taj Mahal restaurant is easy up there with the good ones. They have a really cosy and inviting atmosphere and the service is superb. The staff are really friendly and accommodating. The variety on the menu isn't too big but what they do offer is really well prepared. Pricing is reasonable. Definitely a 5 star option in Rio.

I lived in India for many years, and am most often than not very disappointed at Indian places, especially in Brazil, where the food tastes nothing like traditional Indian food. This is not the case here!! Their food is delicious and, dare I say, even better than a lot of places in India! Being an Indian, I just googled indian restaurant in Rio and based on ratings, just went and I think it was a right decision. We ordered samosas which were amazing and crispy and nice served with chutneys, then my friend ordered chicken chilly and he too loved it. And then we ordered butter garlic naan, butter roti and 'taj Shahi korma ' and trust me, the taste was amazing. Definitely worth going!!
I 'm an Indian and I had lots of expectations but they couldn 't get close to it Gulabjamun they don 't even know how to make , I had never eaten such Gulabjamun in my life , for Indians it 's the best desert and people like to eat but after eating Gulabjamun at Taj Mahal I forgot the taste of original one. Being an Indian its Shame for me to share such a bad review but it 's the truth.
Lamb biryani lacked of some spices and the rice was not basmati. The lamb meat was not a good one. It was boneless and it didn’t taste fresh. For the price the quality was low. I’m a picky person by the way but I had better indian food in South America. Book a table now
Being an Indian myself I would give it a 3 rating as per the taste and authenticity. If you want to enjoy Indian food this is the best one in Rio. Had Pulao and Navaratna Korma, very much Indian dishes.
