Visited here in a group of 8 and we booked. Dinner was at 7.30pm and we were told they had run out of prawns. Not really a good start. We were given magazines to look through for our meal choices. We ate dumplings, duck pancakes, san choy bao and salt and pepper calamari. The food was quite nice however we were squashed in, it was ridiculously noisy and not all staff understood English. Asking for wine glasses and the bill was a challenge. The decor is old and dated. The restaurant was full with a queue out the door and is obviously popular with the locals.Parking is scarce. Parking in the Woolworth's car park (in the Eastwood centre) is for 2 hours only and closes promptly at 9.30pm. Cost $...
I am not generally a fan of the over-lit cafeteria- like restaurants in Rowe St... but my 23 year old daughter is smitten with these dumplings... so we seem to come every other week, bringing grandparents, cousins and any other visitors for a trip overseas without the jet-lag.The food is fun and a different treat for us, and the pan fried pork dumplings are always somewhere in the order. It is a crazy place, with long queues, perfunctory but still (so far) always pleasant staff. I would LOVE LOVE LOVE it if their bathrooms could be smartened up... but they were (I suppose) basic and clean.
Food: delicious! We had the Xiao Long Bao, fried rice with Xo sauce, beef with Smallions. Dumplings were fresh, delicious and had a big aroma. Beef was delicate and plentiful. Fried rice was exceptional if the whole bowl could have eaten. Grief
Price: Bit on the high side, but the quality was there.
Service: Waited for about 20 minutes for a table, took a few to attentive the waitress so that we could order, but they are understaffed by such a strenuous restaurant.
Ordering methods Here were practical by selecting on a writing menu. The chives pancakes were crispy and delicious, but overall the entire food was too greasy. I did not really enjoy the pot stickers because the pastry was thick and stronger. I wanted to order milk tea, but it was disappointing to see that they had equipped. What kind of loading runs from milk tea?

Delicious! The food was incredible and I come back here for delicious dumplings ???? The only downfall of this joint was that it was extremely packed, somehow felt that we sit on each other. Next time I would go about 20 clock if it is a bit quieter!
The taste of Shanghai is one of the best Chinese restaurants in Sydney. Her dumplings are pretty nice, but some could be a little better. There is also a nice large selection of Chinese food!

I often order take away here for the kids when they're in urgent need of foodTypically I order the shiao long bao or pan fried pork bun.
I went with my friend about 4pm after the funeral service.The restaurant itself were empty,but limited service is provided.
