We decided to hit up Tastes of Greece again after a while, reminiscing about the good ol' days when it was run by the original owner. We had a blast with the authentic food back then. Last night, we got to meet Chef Mark Cummings, who came over to our table and shared some stories about his career, his gig with the Food Network, and how he ended up in Capistrano with his family. Naturally, with Chef Mark coming to our table and introducing himself and his accomplishments, we expected to receive better services and food quality than when it was run by the original owner. Unfortunately, our experience was the reverse. Unfortunately, our experience this time around wasn't as awesome as before....
Tastes of Greece offers a rich, immersive cultural experience along with a vast array of epicurean delights! Upon entering, we were greeted warmly by a multi generational Greek family with live traditional Greek music playing on the Bouzouki in the background. After traveling to the Greek islands of Rhodes Leros in 2022, we fell in love with the people, culture, and of course, the food! The Tastes of Greece food is spectacular, in both presentation and authenticity, from the pomegranate refresher, to the traditional horiatiki salad (no lettuce). We then enjoyed the Chef’s specials of chicken schnitzel, cod fillet, which were both spectacular. We then ordered the dessert recommended by the ow...
Ordered the Lamb Burger and 'Feta Fries ' for takeout. Firstly...I have given this local place a few tries with time in between and they always fall short. The burger was tasteless and the fries were literally have burnt and half undercooked...like 2 mixed batches...what a mess...with a small container of dry feta. What greek place doesn 't include tzatsiki sauce on the side. Needless to say I had to recook the uncooked fries and make my own sauce on the side...Taste of Greece,you have got to up your game...your competitors are outdoing you by Alot!
We waited for over an hour for our food at this restaurant, and when it finally arrived, it was salty and unappetizing. I was very disappointed with the slow service and the food quality. The food tasted like it had been microwaved and was not fresh, and they charged over $30 for a simple Gyro. For 4 people we paid about $150. Just go to Taco Bell across the street and save your time and money. The chef claims to be one of the Food Network founders and had, at some point, over 4200 employees. He gave us a 20-minute speech about it.

Great cozy family owned place. We had the pleasure to go when a celebrity Chef was cooking, he goes often. A lot of special off the menu. Everything we tried was very good. Fair prices for large portions. Half baked chicken, feta cheese flame broiled and koobideh. They also have Greek beers. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner
Lovely place for a date night or family. The food is so so good and hot and fresh. The ambience is perfect and the service is wonderful. The owners are always present. And I absolutely love the fried cod and lamb shank. Jewelled rice is a must Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
