The owners here saved our day. We got into Murren way too late, and everything else including the grocery store was closed. They were clearly about to close, but they let us in without a hitch. The food was really good, actually. This is definitely a mom and pop joint, and they don't take plastic. They do take Euros, Dollars, and Swiss Francs. I know what you're thinking, too. Chinese food in the Alps? Trust me and go. You'll like it. The food wasn't cheap, but nothing in Murren is for that matter.
Normally wouldn't expect to see a Chinese restaurant in such a small mountain town but we saw the strong reviews and decided to give it a shot. We were not disappointed, the food was excellent with fresh ingredients and careful preparation. The chef has been running this restaurant in Murren for 25 years and his wife runs the front of the house. She was extremely nice and speaks at least 6 languages. We had a wonderful experience that was rather unexpected. Give it a try!
This restaurant is basically a store front, presenting a fairly non-descript image. However, the cuisine is world class. Everything on the copious menu is prepared to order, with quite efficient service. The Shanghai noodles were the best that I have ever had. Since it is small, it fllls up fairly quickly, but there is the possibility of take-out. If you want something other than Swiss cuisine, this is the place to go to in Murren.
A friend and I are in Mürren for my birthday and in two days we've been here twice. I think it's hard to find good Chinese food in Europe and this restaurant is a little gem. The food is very good and the owners very kind. At the time we were the only patrons so he chatted with us and gave good advice. A kind couple who greatly care about their restaurant and customers.
