Went to Thanjai with a friend who had been several times before and loved it. Their specialty is dosa - crisp, thin crepes filled with your choice of fillings. We went for a lamb masala and a vegetable. Appetizers were also good, deep- fried vegetables in a batter and lamb fritters a little more doughy than I had expected. Chutneys arespicy. The place was filled with locals and the service is very very friendly. Dinner was $35 tax and tip included. Bring your own wine or beer. The mango milkshake is also very good.
We have been to Thanjai Restaurant several times, we feel more excited each time we visit the restaurant just because of the fact that the varieties and its non-compromising taste delivered so far. Especially if there is any feedback given, we notice it is being immediately rectified and doing their best to provide a excellent customer experience on their visits. I ordered potato baji and chilli chicken as appetizers, potato stuffing inside was cold, and big chunks of roasted chicken breast and chopped raw vegetables (Capsicum, onions, and fresh green chilli) dipped in chilly sauce. Order Lamb kothu parota, and I found some unidentifiable black warm kind stuff, when I inquired about it they said it rice grains, which made me puzzled how come rice grain in parota?. The one star is for mango lassi.
My favorite Indian restaurant which serves amazing south indian dishes. The dishes are as authentic as they could be and delicious. Have been there on many occasions and never disappoints. Must visit if you want to taste true indian food in Montreal.

Sent me masala dosa instead of paneer masala dosa and one small bowl of sambhar for 2 dosas, which was not enough for 2 people/dosa. There was no coconut chutney. However, taste of dosa and sambhar was good.
It was a good experience eating Indian food out there in Montreal. Thanjai is good place and provide good variety of indian dishes. We had ordered dosas and they were truly great in taste.
Good place for south Indian vegetarian dishes especially dosas. Bad non-vegetarian dishes. Chilly chicken has more that chicken in chilly gravy you know.
