What a pleasant surprise! This restaurant is located beneath the train tracks in downtown Evanston, and it boasts a lovely dining room with exceptional food and fantastic service. We started our meal with a beet salad and a goat cheese tart drizzled with balsamic, both of which were delicious and generously portioned for the three of us to share. Our main courses consisted of halibut, pork tenderloin, and the Chilean Sea Bass special, all of which received high praise from us. To top off the night, we ordered a decadent chocolate flourless cake with vanilla ice cream and Grand Marnier chocolate sauce for the birthday celebrant. It was indulgent and definitely worth the calories. We will cert...

We went to the Alcove to celebrate my husband’s birthday. The food was excellent starting with the appetizers. We chose the baby octopus the goat cheese tart. Both were absolutely delicious. The octopus was so tender it felt like it could melt in your mouth. We both chose a fish entry both were wonderful. For desert we had the bread pudding and the flourless chocolate. Delicious choices though everything on the menu looked amazing. We will definitely go back!

Had such high hopes. Amazing appetizers, drinks and service. Main course was not good. Maybe we shouldn’t have ordered the steak as it isn’t steak focused but it was cooked well done even after 2nd attempt. They were very nice and apologetic but we will not likely dine here again except for drinks and small plates.

We had a memorable wedding anniversary dinner at Alcove. The elegant surroundings, attentive service, and marvelous food made for a special evening. The lamb and sea bass dishes were superb. I highly recommend Alcove to anyone who enjoys fine dining. Book a table now

Alcove has a sophisticated atmosphere and exceptional service. We thoroughly enjoyed the octopus appetizer. The halibut was expertly seasoned and came in a generous portion. The crème brûlée was the best I've ever had.

Everything was lovely and was easy for our friend who was taking the train from the city to meet us there. Will definitely go again.

Great food but the servers were a bit condescending because we were younger made our anniversary a bit harder to celebrate.

Cozy and quiet ambience with good food. Unfortunately the service is very lacking.
