My wife and I dined at The Anchor on Sat night for the Mexican themed night. Whilst overall we enjoyed the night as we were with friends we hadn't seen in some time I feel a number of areas for concern may have contributed to the night being well below amazing.Firstly we were seated outside which is fine however being winter and especially a very cold evening we literally froze. There was 1 gas heater much further down and 1 odd ceiling heater that could not be felt from where we were sitting. We asked one of the waitresses if there were any other heaters and were sadly advised no. Secondly we felt the overall quality of the dishes given the $45/person cover charge was ordinary. Great food but beware if you make a booking for a special occasion. We booked over month before our planned celebration and booked a table for 1030am. It was a very busy Sunday morning so we didn't mind waiting an hour for our food. However, half an hour after our food arrived we attempted to order more food and drinks only to be told we wouldn't have time as they needed us to leave because they had booked someone for our table at 12.30. If there's a time limit, patrons should be advised at the time of booking. Our party included guests who had travelled for 3 hours to join us. The waitresses were rude and unfriendly.
Attentive staff, excellent food. We will be back as everything was fresh, well presented and very tasty. Outside on the verandah is a bit draughty on a cool day perhaps they could offer blankets like other outside cafes do. It wasn't made clear that we had to order and pay at the register but otherwise quick service.
Nice little cafe in budgewoi circle. Went there with friends for breakfast only negative was the toast that came with our bacon and eggs was too dry and hard. All five of us commented that the toast was too hard and was impossible to cut with a knife and fork. Great coffee!
