hubby and I came to Sunday dinner at midday. we had no booking, but the owner let us have a table for two very kindly, while he gently reminded us that they would need our table by 2 o'clock. fantastic meal! my lame fell off. the bone without much to prodding. so delicate and tasty! the roastbeef of my nabeby was juicy and delicate the dishes were served with the traditional accompaniment of sweets, a beautifully crowned bratkartoffel and a pot disc. service was friendly, efficient and inconspicuous. hubby and I are not often in the countryside, but if we are, we always have at least one meal here. about covid we heard that the pub was closed. the owner informed us that this was due to their...

I'm black, my friend is Asian, we went to this pub this afternoon to have a quiet drink with our white friend and watch the football. sitting within two minutes of us, the barman came by and said if we don't buy drinks. we had to go, I said it was good that we were just coming to order. I then went into the bar, and the guy said, "on second thought I think it is best they go, it will be busy here soon," he refused to serve me or give me another reason. when we went home, we mentioned this to some friends from the Ashford area, and they said that this pub is well-known racist and the renter probably did one like to tell us "before it was busy."

It’s a proper pub. Don’t come here for posh nosh. It’s all about well kept and good quality Fullers beers and a pleasant atmosphere. The pub is clean, tidy, freshly decorated and welcoming. The service is great and it’s an excellent pub if you wish...to watch the sport. Having said that, the TV volume is not cranked up so you can still enjoy a conversation. I’m fortunate to have this pub at the end of my road.

Appalling hostile atmosphere and was asked to leave as the locals might attack me. Barman even took my pint instead of dealing with the drunks.
