The Bad Apple completely exceeded our expectations, and they were already pretty high! The venue is absolutely stunning, the food is DIVINE, the cocktails are outstanding, and the staff? chefs kiss. They really round out the entire experience they're attentive and warm without being overbearing. We recommend the prime rib bruschetta (and complimentary homemade cornbread), filet, and j chicken. If they have the crème brûlée on the dessert menu, GET IT. The old fashioned and whiskey sour were a hit, too. We will absolutely be back, we're already scoping out the menu for what to try next!! Do yourself a favor and make the reservation!

What a surprise !! This restaurant is one of the best all around dining experiences we have had in quite a while. Tucked back away from US route 460, on a knoll down a dirt road, you come to an unmarked barn, thinking you must be dreaming. Inside you find the re-creation of a speakeasy. Wait staff is friendly, prompt, and each of the wait staff has a name, ours was Crazy Kat. Drinks and food are locally sourced for the most part and are just superb. I had filet mignon, grits, asparagus, all done to perfection. If you are near Virginia Tech or just passing through, it is most definitely worth the visit. Reservations required.
I can only share my experience my one time experience on a busy weekend, with a fixed menu.First off Staff was INCREDIBLE. They easily handled our 15 person party on VA Tech graduation weekend. We had multiple changes to our res, and they were super sweet to our group, including 2 under 10.Food? Meh. It was tasty. A fixed ish 4 course menu is never a chef's place to shine. It was a solid meal. Now, worth the $60 per head? Probably not.Cocktails? Ok, tended a bit sweetVenue? Cool. With cows.Location? Easy drive out from Blacksburg, but gravel road for the last mile which was a little rough for us city folk in a sedan.
Simply magical. The well executed vision of someone who probably got told a million times ?that will never work.? After all, a barn in the middle of nowhere, miles from any city? Themed 1920s speakeasy? Craft cocktails that ONLY feature VA distilleries? Instead of aiming for the quotidian in a sparsely popular area, they shot for the moon and stuck the landing. I found myself noticing detail after detail: individual cloth towels in the bathroom, period-specific furnishings, a Book a table now
What a wonderful gastronomical oasis. The Bad Apple is right at the center of Pembroke, VA. Don?t be mislead by the humble farm outdoor scene. We knew we made the right choice to come to this place from the moment we stepped inside. The hostess (Knuckles) was super welcoming and was able to take us to our table immediately despite our arrival 30 minutes ahead of time. Our server (Zach) was eager to make great suggestions from the menu. The menu was filled with
From the drive in to the amazing service this place is awesome! A unique experience for sure with outstanding cocktails, all with Virginia distilled spirits. Highly recommend! I would recommend the Fitzgerald or the Gimlet for cocktails. The staff is amazing and the whole experience is totally worth the trip!!
Loved driving way out on a farm and having dinner in a barn disguised as a speakeasy! The idea was one thing but the execution was better! The food was very well prepared and the menu hosted many unique dishes to try from. This is a place you don't go and jyst have dinner but you have an experience!
Highly recommended for an enjoyable date night, excellent food and atmosphere. We enjoyed drinks, entrees, desserts…the works. This is a great place to spend a special night out. Book a table now
