I took my family to Smokey Bones on Friday around 8:00 and the place was moderately busy. There was ample staffing to the point that most were just standing around. Even though they were overstaffed the service was extremely slow (seemed they spent more time standing and BS'ing than waiting on customers). When our meal finally arrived and we started eating I commented to my wife that the chicken even had a nice smoke ring. It was only then that I noticed that the chicken thigh and leg was RAW. not just under cooked but RAW. Lunch. I ordered a brisket. I came in a sundae glass hidden under mashed potatoes and a bunch of corn kernels. Somewhere in there were mushy and barely identifiable fried onions. Further down was a great amount of nasty looking grissel. Did I ever find the actual meat? Yes, by accident under a corn kernel. I know Brisket, Brisket is a friend of mine and this one is no Brisket. It is more closely related to slop or even Solient green than anything aspiring to be called Brisket. However, our charming server Meghan was the sweetest and most compassionate, and she deserves a medal. Aside from all this, the Ice tea actually tasted like ice tea and was refreshing enough to get us back on the road.
Went for lunch. My wife and I judge professional BBQ competitions, so our standards are high. I had the lunch special Danish back ribs. They were properly cooked, not overdone, mushy, fall off the bone which is the hallmark of overdone. We had a conversation with the manager who impressed us as knowing what he was doing. These were the best I have had in this part of Florida. The brisket was tasty, but a bit fatty. The manager apologised and gave us a box of freshly sliced brisket to take home, the sign of competent customer service. We will be back, which is more than I can say for any of the other BBQ we have had in the 4 years since we moved here to the west coast near Tampa.
Smokey Bones in Brandon, Florida is fantastic! If you visit, be sure to ask for Zuly. She is incredible and will take care of you. She treated me like part of the family. It doesn't get any better than that!

Didn’t taste good, bacon was the worst part tasted like chemicals everyone else is saying they got food poisoning and I hope that’s not the case with me plus I didn’t even get the water I ordered
Love their wings and fries. Clean restaurant and no blaring TVs. You can actually hear yourself have a Conversation. I love the Bogo wings on Mondays. You can’t beat it
This place is amazing, everything I've tried here has been fantastic. As someone who cooks, I'm not easily impressed but this restaurant has exceeded my expectations.
Went for an early New Year's eve dinner. Kristen was great for our waitress. She was Fun and took care of our group . Food was great As usual
