I don’t know why this place is rated so high. Giving 4 stars because they are currently at 4.5, and I think they deserve to get taken down a notch and get real. Don’t get me wrong, it’s fine for what it is and the live Irish music is outstanding, but it’s just a normal dive bar where straight dudes in patagonia vests go and yell to compensate for the bad acoustics in the building. The fact that the chase bank across the street which has been nothing but professional and kind to me is sitting at 3.7 stars while this freakin place is 4.5?? No way buddy. You can get an IPA at red bone’s barbecue right across the street for cheaper if that’s your thing. It’s just a destination for local yuppies...

The Backroom was definitely where it was at. The quartet in the main room was groovy, but the conversation inside was so loud that it was very difficult to hear the music, even if one was sitting right next to it. I thoroughly enjoyed the music in the backroom which appears to include a new artist every week. The music was intimate and the crowd was there for it. The service was excellent and prompt, and the spicy black bean burger I ordered was very good, though the sweet potato fries were way over salted (which is fine, I had napkins). Overall, a good experience for the backroom. I’d skip the front room for music, however.
There’s no need to go to Boston to find a really great Irish bar. The Burren is practically perfect in every way. Fun main bar and dining area with casual live music. The back room also has bar service and food service and great concerts almost every night. The staff is very friendly and flexible and you can pretty much sit and order anywhere you want. The music selection is great, Tom is a fabulous booker. Get on their mailing list for last minute shows that are giant fun.

Do yourself a favor and try the fried mushrooms! We are new to the area and took a chance on a new place for a burger. Food was very good. Our waitress was helpful and attentive. My only complaint was it was very warm inside, but it’s summer.
Great authentic irish pub with live music and quite tasty food. I had fish and chips delicious! Service is great but the restrooms need renovations.
Great music and food. Had the veggie shepherd pie, and the music was fantastic! Grain Theif, a local Irish band, was playing, and they killed it.
Fantastic place! Always great service and a welcoming atmosphere. It might be loud with the live music, but the craic is great.
