The restaurant is now under new management/ownership, and unfortunately the quality of food has declined. The fish was decent quality but overcooked, making it chewy in places due to a lack of experience in frying fish. The pasties were tasty but not as good as they were under previous management; this could be improved by returning to the previous supplier. The batter on the pasties was greasy due to the wrong oil temperature. The chips were fine, but overall the cooking techniques need improvement. It was a common issue among locals, as two others I spoke to had the same complaints of overcooked and greasy food. Despite being popular with tourists, the restaurant may struggle outside of th...

I didn't visit the restaurant. I placed an order on Bangor Eats but was unable to write a review there. First, the fish was great. Loads of fish instead of too much batter, which is common in other places. My gripe is that the food was lukewarm, and the cheesy beano was put together wrong. Beans on the top. Cheese should be on the top. Under the beans, means they can put a tiny amount of cheese on. I think mine had about 6 strands of cheese. The amount of it was pitiful too. The portion wasn't even touching the sides of the box when it was unwrapped. £5.50 for this was robbery. Flavour was fine, but I doubt I'll order from here again. If you're only peckish, go here. If you're starving, go s...
We went to The Captains Table today. The service was okay. We ordered a pasty, sausage supper, a pot of tea, a bread and butter, and a portion of onion rings. The bread was hard and the chips were like scraps you would throw away. Halfway through the meal, we still hadn't received the onion rings so I cancelled them. There was no apology or explanation. The tea was cold. The pasty and sausages were just okay. The prices were high, such as 70p for a slice of bread and £5 for a pot of tea for two people. Overall, it was very disappointing. We used to visit this place often, but maybe under new management, it is not as good. I would not recommend it.
After a recent visit felt compelled to write a review . Food was ok no real issues. Though the manner in which the “fryer’s “ speak to their young staff is appalling . They should focus on encouraging instead of outright criticism in front of customers. Uncomfortable for the young staff and customers alike .The “fryer’s could do with some training in how to manage and encourage staff . Book a table now
Unfortunately, the service at this restaurant was disappointing. My family and I went for dinner and the waiter took our order but forgot to bring glasses for our drinks. We had to ask for milk and sugar for our tea, and even had to request a spoon for the sugar. The fish was good, but the service was so bad that we won't be returning.
Called shop to advise that some of their scampi was off and smelled and tasted of strong ammonia. Instead of the cook wanting to investigate they just flat out ignored and denied. We will never eat there again
Poor customer service. Rude waitress. No ice in drinks and no napkins given. It's under new management but they're worse than the last owners.
