The Chequers Inn - Table reservation

We arrived 20 mins early and was shown straight to our table in a completely empty restaurant at 7 o 'clock on a Saturday night. My wife ordered the £16 pie which was a pot of chicken that had a reheated piece of pastry on it which had now turned into more of a biscuit. Served with what I believe to be smash. The chef/(owner I guess) was quite sure it wasn 't so I can only assume they 're reheating their mash in the microwave creating a tasteless dry slop with a skin on. I had £22 chewy steak served with no steak knife and a watery sauce. Save your money and just get your microwaved food from wetherspoons

Went for a catch up meal with friends and had a lovely evening here. Bar service was excellent and had a pleasant seating area where we sat and enjoyed a glass of wine before going round to eat in the restaurant. Menu was short but enough there to choose from and we all thoroughly enjoyed what we ordered. Must admit apple and date crumble just a little too sweet for me. Also found out that there's a great day walk from the car park round and back that can end in the pub for a drink and food. Excellent will return.

We had a family party in a beautiful separate room to celebrate a birthday lunch for 18, everyone catered for brilliantly. Really fantastic food and service, we could not have been happier. Thank you for a wonderful time!

We have just had lunch at this pub and the food was brilliant good value for money the pub was clean and our waitress Zoe went above and beyond thank you we will be back
