I have been coming to The Chippy for several years. Whenever I am in Colorado Springs I try to stop there for a meal. I started coming here before the remodel started. I have seen that go a couple different directions. I like the way it is set up now. The tables on one side and the shop on the other side is great. The fish and chips were awesome. We went with the cod. The cod was crisp and hot, as were the chips. We enjoy ours with the malt vinegar on the fish and salt on the chips. It was a very good meal. I wish I could have rated higher, but the floor and tables were so dirty and sticky. The fries were oily/soggy and seemed like they'd been left in the frier for a very long time. The cod we all got was ok, but the batter was a tad more flavorless than we were expecting. I do like that the batter was thin like we experienced when we went to the UK last summer. I don't know if they had any brown sauce/malt vinegar to go on anything, I didn't ask. I WILL say, the tartar sauce and curry sauce are great. I wish they had fried Mars bars! The fish is good,the french fries are delicious and their bread is awesome. They were out of coleslaw for some reason the place is not even busy to be out of something. So that tells me they only make a little because they have lack of customers. It’s only obvious their prices are ridiculous. We ordered three plates. It came with fries and fish. I didn’t see a two piece combo, that would’ve been nice. It was my first visit to this restaurant, and I must say the fish and chips were fantastic. I shared a large cod with my husband, and the portion size was just right. The fish was large and flaky, and there was a generous serving of fries. The batter was perfectly crispy. I especially enjoyed the tartar sauce; it had a wonderful flavor. The staff at the front counter were polite and helpful, and the interior was clean and inviting. I’m not sure what those negative reviews about cleanliness were talking about, as it was nothing like that during my visit. I’m already looking forward to going back for some more delicious fish and chips!
While it's not the best fish and chips in town, it's still quite good. The portions of fish are generous, and the chips are delicious. I tried the haddock and found it to be creamier and richer compared to the regular white fish. The prices are slightly high, and the restaurant has a lot of unused space, which gives it a somewhat lonely feel. Additionally, they didn’t label our orders, making it a bit challenging to determine which fish was which once we got home—something that could easily have been resolved with a simple marking. Overall, I enjoyed my meal and could see myself dining here again.
I am English! This is NOT what I would call battered sausage and chips. There was no batter on the sausage, and the chips were a greasy mess that tasted like they were fried in old oil. To make matters worse, the price was far too high. Every time I convince myself to give it another chance, the food seems to get worse and worse.
Nice quiet little spot. Fish and chips were fantastic. Service was also great, staff was very friendly. The fountain drink station was sticky, but given how great the food was I would not take any stars off. Bathroom was also clean. Cool little selection of UK items in the side shop too. We were terribly disappointed. I can’t think of anything good to say about this place. What decor there is, is cheap and unattractive. The prices were high for what you get. The fish and chips were extremely greasy and not very tasty. The coleslaw was OK. We will not be going back.
