"good location, lots of space divided into areas, outside seating area. difficult to evaluate the kitchen, like only snacks that were sufficient and good portions. a little tired, certainly worth a visit. good country pub. efficient service and drinks at the table"

Visiting family in Basingstoke, stopped off for a bite to eat. Lovely area outside, but it was a day of sunshine and showers so opted to sit inside. Wasn’t impressed with the weeds growing around the front of the pub, looked tired and unloved. Far...different from their displayed photo. Sure,y during Covid someone could have put in a few plants to brighten the place up. First impressions count a lot! Ordered double egg, ham and chips twice. When the waitress bought it, the ham was pale and the eggs were over cooked, not the runny yolks that we could dip our chips into, maybe they had been left on the hot plate too long, The meal sadly lacked presentation and to be honest it looked insipid, b...

after a walk in the opposite direction, jumped around a pint and finished with a late lunch. the food served up to 18 o'clock on the sun and they offer a nut roast with all the meat options we had. it was obviously homemade, cooked with...feta and served with roasted pots, 5 different vegetables and veggie gravy. it was all satisfied cooked and extremely tasty. there were 4 real ales, of which two were of local breweries; longdog (golden poacher) andwell (golden muddler) there were also ship ghost from adnams and another choice that I cannot remember the names. very impressed by the choices and the standard of food.

I go to this pub regularly to drink (isnt that what pubs are for, and i have a kitchen at home, isnt that what they are for) Always 100 perfection on the ale side of things. The new land lady jenny seems very friendly and...welcoming, and always a polite greeting with a smile from the new barmaids whom usually have poured my beer before i even order it in a jug. The new team are really helpful and very attentive, thanks everyone, keep up the good work

Visited for Sunday lunch and didn’t disappoint. Warm welcome by the Landlady. Service not slow despite a popular pub. Food was very tasty for us all both traditional roast and vegetarian nut roast. Very impressed with the range of Ales available, now that this...is a Free House kept well and flavoursome. We were sat on a corner table next to a roaring fire could not ask for more. 10/10
