We recently celebrated our wedding on the lawn at The Common Man and held our reception in the Sugar River Ballroom. It was an incredible experience, and I couldn't be happier with our choice. Planning from Washington State was made so much easier thanks to Tess and the entire staff, who were incredibly helpful and accommodating. The venue itself was stunning, and we received numerous compliments on how delicious the food was. Everything was fairly priced for a wedding, and we appreciated the transparency—there were no unexpected costs, which can often happen with venues. They over booked a family members wedding and her rooms so she had to postpone her wedding a year (after sending out invites) then didn’t book the brides sweet so the bride had to stay in a different room the night of her wedding so that a couple on their ANNIVERSARY could have the room!!! Common man refused to call the couple and tell them about their mistake instead they ruined the bride and grooms night. Bride cried the night before the wedding week leading up because of them. They were able to give the bride the bridal sweet the night before the wedding but the bridal party had to RUSH out of the room during hair/makeup so housekeeping could clean the room for the anniversary couple comi...
What an incredible inn! During these challenging times with the coronavirus, we had to plan our ceremony at the last minute, and the staff here were exceptionally accommodating. We highly recommend the Terrace Suite; the view is absolutely breathtaking, and the space is incredibly spacious! The front desk team—Ethan, Christian, and Katrina—as well as the wonderful housekeeper, made our experience possible during these tough times. A huge bonus is that our photos turned out phenomenal, thanks to our photographer, Courtney Magooon, who had such beautiful grounds to work with!
Stunning historic buildings! Our room was quite spacious, yet it had a warm and inviting atmosphere. We stayed in a corner room with large windows featuring wooden grids, set against a backdrop of exposed brick. The highlight was definitely the bed linens, which included a mattress pad with feather pillows—making for the coziest night ever. I felt it was a fantastic value! The staff were friendly and very helpful. I would love to return!

The Common Man Inn offers excellent service, friendly staff, and clean rooms—truly the best! However, the restaurant falls short. The service is below average, and the quality of the food varies—it's just okay depending on what you choose. I'm really disappointed because the restaurant itself is beautiful!
We visit the Common Man Restaurant every year, as my parents are buried in Claremont. After our trip to the cemetery, we treat ourselves to a meal at this restaurant. The staff is fantastic, and the food and drinks are excellent. The atmosphere and the view of the river are simply refreshing!

I was blown away by the rooms and everything else about this hotel!! It's absolutely beautiful and the desk clerk, Hayley is super sweet friendly and knowledgeable!!
