I stayed here during my 2023 John O'Groats to Lands End ride, when I was accompanied by my wife and 13 year old son, who were acting as support crew. The Sun Hotel is a quirky boutique hotel housed in an historic building with extensive accommodation located above the pub and accessed via a unique flight of stairs and a labyrinth of intriguing corridors set out on different floors. Indeed, as you wander through, you are able to learn much about its character and history from many informative notes displayed on the walls. We shared a snug family room with a camp bed for our son but we were very comfortable. Our ensuite bathroom was clean and bright with a bath, shower and toiletries provided....
I went to this restaurant for drinks to celebrate a friend's birthday. The atmosphere was enjoyable and the drinks were good, but our experience was soured by a particularly rude staff member. When our drinks were delivered, I asked if we could order more, and the staff member sharply instructed me to use the table's call button instead. I explained that I had already tried that, but had gotten no response. She then ordered another staff member to serve us, even though it wasn't their job. When one of our drinks was incorrect, she blamed us for ordering incorrectly, which may have been the case, but her attitude was unnecessary and rude. Just booked again having stayed in September: both uni-related trips. Have stayed at two other hotels nearby but the Sun Inn will now be my go-to. Impressed by the room decor and fixtures/fittings. Breakfast was generous, with meat/gluten free not only available but really tasty. The staff were great and the whole experience was value for money. A shame parking isn't as convenient as it could be but not their fault and we made it work. Overall a really positive stay and looking forward to the next one!
The staff at this restaurant are incredibly welcoming and accommodating from the moment you enter. The reception is welcoming, the online check-in process is efficient yet personal, the bed is very comfortable, the breakfast is of superb quality and cooked perfectly. The restaurant also has an excellent website, is located in a lovely old building, and offers an amazing selection of local beers. I wish I could have stayed for more than just one night!

The atmosphere at this restaurant is fantastic and the food is delicious. I highly recommend trying the oxtail croquette, it was very tasty. The service was also excellent. Overall, I would rate the service and location a perfect 5 out of 5.
