Just come back from a meal as couples at The Cottage which is our local. We haven't been in for months or so and with a couple of friends decided to give it a go. In fairness the food was fine but the...table we had at the back was next to a group of at least with kids. I have no problem with kids letting off steam and running up and down but it would have been helpful if we were told there was a party when we booked! Really spoilt the evening and I will not rush back! Appreciate it is difficult to ensure all customers are catered for but a little bit of forward planning would help.
Been to The Cottage every week, and each time they have never failed me! Tried various meals on the menu and all have been spot on. Amazing service from staff, always a good atmosphere, the outside area (pergola) is comfortable and spacious. All around an...amazing pub with amazing food! The pear and blue cheese salad is a must!! And the black pudding and haggis bon bons are a dream!!! Landlord and land lady Karen and Chris are very welcoming and nothing is too much trouble for them.
We called in to the cottage inn after looking round the shops in the village. We where a group of the staff accommanated us straight way even tho they where busy. They also accomadated us when we asked for food even tjo we hadnt...booked in. The food was fantastic and the staff was very friendly and couldnt do enough for us. We had a fantastic weekend.
Lovely, attentive staff, friendly locals and nice cold beer! Blue cheese burger was good, classic pub food done well. Good find for a random excursion to haxby, if im ever back i shall definitely visit again. Nice to see a pub still doing well regardless...of covid!!
