this was the first English pub my wife and I visited, 4 years ago (2015 on a small road trip in england. in March 2019 we had a single day for something we would enjoy. we went back to this place: a plane of Denmark Friday, drove the 2.5 hours from stansted into the pub, went to home after dk Saturday. they will not find any more welcoming atmosphere or host when the pub has. Not the last time we have visited cross keys inn with their good food and cask bier:
Granddaughter's local ....... it seems to be the hub of the village very well attended. Read notice board and there seems to be lots to do. Sunday lunch was a good size, very well cooked and tasty plenty of gravy (asked for extra dessert was heavenly sticky toffee pudding and grandaughter had warm chocolate fudge cake, talk about being stuffed. Lovely food friendly staff, will return.
what a friendly couple that leads the place. room was spotless, very clean. tea, coffee sugar and towels have been provided. breakfast was breathtaking and I couldn't decide what to have. we also have some recommendations to see local sights and sights.
Our second time, surprised how we had missed such a fine pub and eatery before. The food range is superb and at very reasonable prices, service excellent and I guess the beers must be good with all those drinking them (I sadly was the driver).
