"Room dirty, cobwebs and moths everywhere. No hot water at all. Restaurant terrible, starter not bad, main ok but desert horrendous, cheeses board £11 but crackers were stale and resembled cardboard, cheese was awful."

We would not eat here again, beware!! The food was a microwaved reheat, tasteless and definitely not freshly cooked as they profess! Maybe freshly cooked a while ago perhaps?? The pub area was very quaint, but the dining area and the rest of it lacked atmosphere and was a bit old and drab to be honest! The owners say it’s a 17th century building, but you can still tastefully combine the old features of a building with new furnishings etc still retaining its history, but I feel this is just their excuse for old and tired! Other pubs, restaurants and hotels seem to be able to do this very thing as there are lots of old buildings in Derbyshire, maybe they need to visit a few of these places to...

Its SUCH. A good pub it has everything but would be better knocked down Honestly my food tasted like cardboard and my gravy NEVER arrived. I had some Mexican vegetables on a roast dinner, a Halloween 2021 can of Fanta, Some sort of chemicals in a mug, staff never hear if a J20, Dirty brown tap water, felt petrified to leave the table for the toilet. If I wanted to visit a time capsual I'll visit a museum next time. Who wants to eat their dinner next to painted gin glasses and a shampoo display cabinet. I'd be surprised if the shampoo is still in date by the state of this place Perfect to go to if you'd like some food poisoning, sticky tables and chairs, dirty water, and frightening staff. If...

The only game in town, otherwise I would have chosen something better! We needed overnight accomodation in the area and needed to eat outside. it was a Monday night and felt like the Chef's night off. Wait staff were friendly and pleasant but sometimes forgetful. My friend's food was OK a reheated (I think) steak ale pie, with a few tired looking veg. My Staffs oatcake with roast veg was terrible. If I hadn't been so hungry I would have sent it back. Veg were soggy no sign of being roast. Goat cheese was a gummy mess on top. Fries industrial. With proper restaurant prices, it would be nice to have proper restaurant food and service.

Resaurant has quite a varied choice of seating areas. Not on top of one another. Service a bit slow but staff are pleasant, friendly and helpful which is more than I can say about the other diners/guests. Food fine but not the biggest of choice on the menu though up to Yorkshire sized portions. Choice of hand pumped beers.
