"Great food and lovely location situated next to Tilford Woods retreat. Dog friendly. Park for children. Spring menu plus daily specials. Prawn cocktail a little small would become only slight negative."

As a local, I've been dining at the Duke for many years, but my recent lunch made me question if it had changed hands, such was the difference in the food and service and not in a good way. The portion sizes versus extortionate...costs is nothing short of daylight robbery, and the food was bang average at that. The service was painfully slow and our waiter looked so miserable it almost put me off my lunch. When everyone is being squeezed by the cost of living and going out for lunch becomes a treat rather than the norm, it's just so disappointing that my local I have supported for many years, has decided to increase its profits at the expense of loyal customers. I will not be going again, an...

Very disappointing experience yesterday for a family of 7 for a special celebration lunch. Our table was booked for 12.30, but despite ordering fairly quickly we didn’t actually eat anything for an hour and 30 mins which considering we had 2 children in the...party was very challenging! 2 of our ordered meals had been dropped in the kitchen and therefore reordering was needed. Unfortunately when the food eventually arrived it wasn’t overly special either, with one dish having to be sent back twice as it was incorrect and no real apologies for the wait we had. When we ordered desserts again a 40 min wait and when we raised concern just told we are really busy. Total bill was around £200, and...

So where can I start. I came for food and drinks with my wife, son and daughter. The manager was very polite and well spoken when we arrive. He greated us so professionally and lovenly. The drinks were superb. As for the food. Amazing. I...had the bream grill and they had the lamb chops, halloumi caesar and the beef burger. All cooked to perfection. I spoke with the sous chef he says. He was so polite and friendly but seemed very stressed. He was very professional and said we welcome you anytime. Im not surprised on how busy it was that he was stressed. Fair play to the chef or chefs and the staff. Our evening was so amazing.

we've been coming here for many years at night, but for the first time we came to Sunday dinner with the family. the eating was very average, they were very busy, which is good) but the sunday roasts were a let...down the workers were all young and inexperienced and hastened from the feet. because I have a large sitting area in the open, the kitchen is still very small. we had to wait an hour until our food arrived. the bratsirloin was quite hard and exaggerated I asked for rarely.

really nice lunch on Saturday. with so many pubs fighting it is really nice to be able to recommend the quality of eating and service here. I had the chicken and hamcake, with chips instead of maic, and it was really delicious. correct cake than. good the beer was good, their own and the service very attentive. have been to three of their local pubs now and all were very good, but this probably the best.

after a beautiful walk through the landscape of surrey. quite busy, but many seats (most people were outside as it was a sunny day). service was very good and the waiter in the restaurant was very friendly, attentive, attentive, without being intrusive and eating was nice with good portions, although I would have liked a bit more variety (menu very similar to other pubs in the opposite)

Popped in for lunch earlier in the week. We are local so have been here a lot. Everything was perfect, Steak pie (Om nom nom) Chicken Caesar was perfect and then we shared the apple crumble..... Hands down that was the best apple crumble...I have ever eaten. Thank you Chef it was fabulous.

Busy lunchtimes are best avoided. They cannot cope with the volume so service levels suffer. Many menu choices were unavailable and wait times were unacceptable. Saw many dissatisfied diners both inside and in the garden. Very disappointing.

eating was on average rather exceptional and various dishes and beer were not available. this would have been less a problem if we had not been told after the order. maybe a rather unpretentated relationship between kitchen and house.
