We arrived on Sunday and were warmly welcomed. Even though it was busy in both the bar area and in the dining room, nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals, I opted for the roast lamb dinner and my partner went for the roast beef. They were served promptly and very hot. The room was an average size and the bed was really comfortable and clean. The bathroom was showing signs of age but was clean and adequate. On the Monday night I ordered the steak and ale pie with side of vegetables and I couldn 't finish it even though it was delicious. I spent a weekend in one of the Duke of Wellington's courtyard rooms and was thoroughly impressed. The rooms were clean, stylish, and spacious, making for a comfortable stay. The staff was always friendly and went above and beyond to ensure we were enjoying our time there. The pub had a lovely atmosphere and an extensive drink selection (we sampled most of them and can confidently say they were all excellent). The breakfast in the morning was outstanding and truly enhanced our experience. I definitely plan to return and would highly recommend the Duke of Wellington to everyone. This is a lovely pub which is not too far off the A19, they serve excellent food here with well kept beers and ales, they also have rooms that will fill up rapidly in summer months. It is not the cheapest pub you will ever go into but the prices reflect the amount of care taken to get the atmosphere, the quality and presentation of the food and the service just right. The staff are warm and friendly as well as well presented and knowledgeable of their environment and the menu!
I had the pleasure of staying at this welcoming establishment for a few nights while celebrating with family nearby. I can't thank the manager and staff enough for their warm, friendly, and helpful service throughout my visit. Stayed three years ago and wanted to return. New owners now and is much improved. Very busy for Sunday lunch. The hosts are very welcoming. Room was comfy and clean. Had a lovely breakfast in the morning. Will return some day. Thanks to Andy and Debbie
Went on a Tuesday Night for the Pub Quiz. Beer was good and there was a good atmosphere. Only suggestion is the Pub Quiz would have been more at home in the 90s than in 2021! But that may just be me being a sore loser.
Stopped for a Saturday night, made to feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Rooms are good clean and comfy, good pub food, breakfast spot on and a great pint of Black Sheep. Definitely stay again.
