We were visiting the area, staying in a local cottage and it was a real struggle to find an upmarket gastro pub or restaurant serving Welsh classic food. The Falcondale seemed to be a hit. Unfortunately, it wasn’t for us. Both of us ordered Welsh Rarebit to start at £8pp. We know it’s cheese on toast, but what we didn’t expect was thin sliced Tesco Value white bread and some Cathedral City on top. I’ve had better Rarebit in England! My Sirloin steak was very generous and cooked well with the peppercorn accompaniment, but the chips were undercooked and hard inside. My family and I were staying 25 minutes away from Lampeter and decided to head into town for dinner with our 5-year-old after a long day out. We couldn't find any open restaurants that suited our tastes, but luckily we had seen a hotel sign and decided to try it out. We were pleasantly surprised to discover a beautiful hotel nestled on the side of a hill. The exterior reminded me of an Agatha Christie novel, with a charming and historic vibe. I have visited The Falcondale three times this month (April) and it speaks volumes about how much I enjoy it. I cannot fault it at all, the food is absolutely delicious. It was amazing and the chefs are fantastic. The staff are very friendly and go out of their way to make your experience enjoyable. It is definitely worth traveling a distance to get there. Thank you for a wonderful Sunday lunch, I will definitely be back for the fourth time and many more visits in the future.
I ate at this restaurant during a long weekend stay. The previous night, we had dinner at a local Chinese restaurant in Lampeter, but my meal was spoiled because I had a heavy lunch earlier in the day. To avoid repeating the same mistake, I opted for a light garlic bread starter and Welsh rarebit main dish. The food was delicious and the service provided by the young waitress was excellent.

Lovely afternoon tea. Plenty of food, hot and cold. Sandwiches were really fresh and I was surprised with the hot selection of quiche, sausage rolls etc. Beautiful setting, staff were friendly, service excellent. We were offered more coffee. Highly recommended.

My wife and I have visited Falcondale several times in the past but this was the first appearance since Covid. The main restaurant was 70% and the service was good and we both enjoyed an excellent lunch overlooking the garden with views over Lampeter.
Fabulous food and great service. Delicious savoury and sweet food served. Surroundings extremely pretty. Lovely atmosphere in the conservatory. A perfect afternoon. Nothing was too much trouble for friendly staff.

Afternoon tea for 5 sat on the gorgeous patio in the sunshine. The food was top class and the service was excellent! We will definitely book again next time we are in this neck of the woods!
