Love the old pubs in the Surry Hills area. I cant stop but think all the history that has walked through the doors of these classic hotels. From men only bars to the gangsters and petty thieves etc.We stopped for an afternoon bevvy and was feeling like some good sides to accompany our drinks.Daughter had an award winning IPA and I had a Kiwifruit based beer. Both excellent and very refreshing. We ordered onion rings and Chicken wings with the Jack Daniels sauce (or was it a bourbon sauce, memory not good).I've had some very average onion rings before, but these were excellent. Batter was light and crunchy and not over powering the delicate flavour of the onions. It didn't say what the accompa...

The Forresters, much like the Clock Hotel and the White Horse, has proven to withstand the test of time. It appears to have gone through changes in management over the years, with the former Jamaican restaurant, Queenies, no longer in operation since around September 2017. Despite this, the Forresters remains a popular spot known for starting the $5 steak craze. The concept involved serving a decent steak with a sauce at a low price, attracting a crowd of patrons. However, as other pubs began to imitate the idea, rules were implemented requiring customers to purchase drinks with their meal, causing prices to increase and eventually leading to the demise of the deal.
This restaurant is fantastic. The service is top-notch, the food always hits the spot, and I have never been disappointed. I have been here countless times with friends and it's always a great experience. It's affordable, fun, and the drinks never stop flowing. Thank you for being my favorite local spot! Oh, and one request... please bring back the chips with meat gravy, it's amazing. I highly recommend this place to anyone in the area!
Good sized hipster bar in Surry Hills selling beers, cocktails and mexican carribean stylefood. I got a rocket salad, with chickpeas, cheese and chicken spicy tacos. Friends got the bean nachos. They have heaps of burgers, pizza, and fried snacks! Also had some aperol spritzers. Service was pretty quick. It is a young pub so the food comes out in plastic or paper containers. Works for the environment. Book a table now
I have been coming here for over a decade it has gone through a few changes but they miraculously have held on to the famous $5 steak. I think they still have it, it's been a year since I ordered it. Pizzas, burgers, and sandwhiches are all decent and they usually have a good lunch deal.
Great unpretentious pub in Surry Hills. Love the laid back vibe and nature of this place. Staff are friendly and service is efficient. Sports games are always playing without the macho crowd and food is always good.would recommend if you're in the area!
If your up for a pub feed that really his home then this is your place.<br/ <br/ For a very busy establishment they do well to service the clientele in a very efficient manner.<br/ <br/ Food is great and cooked upon request with reasonable pricing
The atmoshere is very easy going and chilled. I was there on Monday for the 5 dollars steak and I I was happily surprised by the good quality of the meat; was juicy and tasty. 1 stake is enough (but if you are very hungry better order 2). Book a table now
This lovely pub is situated at the intersection of Foveaux St and Riley St. They offer a good variety of beers and have excellent discounts throughout the week (you can't beat the $5 steak special on Mondays).
Great old pub and proper pub grub menu. Great service. Very down to earth. Huge venue so it's great for parties as they allow you to reserve a large area with a minimum bar spend which is them refunded.
