Dined at Queenies on a Saturday. Entrance is through the busy & buzzy Forresters Hotel and up two flights of stairs. We liked the attempt to create some sort of Caribbean decor with low lighting and music to suit, though the music was too loud for us.Service was friendly and a little slow to start but improved once our orders were taken. We ordered a goat curry, a mixed vegetable dish, chicken jerk and a bowl of mussels. The Goat curry and mixed vegetable dishes were just a small layer on top of a bowl of rice. It tasted nice but it was a struggle to find any meat in the goat curry. The bowl of mussels were popular with my friends but I didn't think it was as good as what an average Italian r...

Wanted to try somewhere in Surry and saw this was rated quite well. Went up on a Wednesday after work, it was pretty empty and service was good. The waitress explained everything and was really nice. Got a comp watermelon with coconut dish, was different. Got the Coconut Fried Prawn Bammie ($7), Pork San Choy Bow and Jerk Pork Ribs ($45). The Coconut Fried Prawn was great - especially paired with the hot sauce (they make their own), it was really good. The Pork Bow was ok, but would have preferred another Prawn Bammie instead. The Ribs were really good, nice flavour and the chips were yum. Overall really good meal and the Jerk Pork is more than enough for two people without ordering anything...
I have eaten at Queenies at least 6 times. The first 3 visits were great. They had a fantastic menu selection that included BBQ ribs - and although it was a bit pricey - you got a lot for your money. $30 would give you a plate combination of BBQ ribs, Jerk chicken, Cole slaw and their sweet potato fries. Since then, they have removed the BBQ ribs from the menu which were the BEST part and they charge separately now for the fries and sides. Very stingy now.Services used to be great but has gone downhill as well. The waiters are nice but the bar tender is unprofessional and needs a serious attitude adjustment (hopefully they have fired him since). Atmosphere is good and overall worth visiting...
Queenies had this funky, tacky vibe in their decoration which is pretty cool. It serves wonderful Caribbean food, everything on the menu is just so delicious.Jerk chicken is a must try with dirty rice and sweet potato fries. The best bonafee pie ever, must have it!! Better to share though as it is pretty heavy but super delicious!Service - goodFood - excellent, good portions to shareDrinks - good but slightly pricey Book a table now
Let me start with the excellent service but really its the food that i have come here for - expecting smoky spicy bursting with flavour dishes. Ordered the jerk mackerel - the fish flavour overwhelmed any taste of the jerk and the vegetable medly was 80% rice and the vegetables were boiled so had no flavour at $22 for the vegetarian dish i felt fleeced. Save your money and go elsewhere
I had gone to Queenies on a Saturday night for dinner, and may I say, I am super happy about the outcome. It is the closest thing to a proper curry goat that i can get in Sydney. I will be returning, also the vibe is awesome.
The venue is really cool, and the bar staff pretty nice. It's unfortunate the place has to shut down at midnight as it's in a residential zone none the less pretty cool vibe.
Trendy casual Surry Hills Pub with great meal specials. We were a group of 6 on Schnitty Trivia night and 5 of us had schnitty's - mexican, German, Book a table now
So the ambiance is unpretentious, slightly hipster, shabby-chic Aussie pub Beers are pricey ($8 a schooey) for the ambiance.
Came here for a quick drink and it's a nice place. Lots of different rooms to suit your fancy of type of bar.
