Moved to Holmbridge 3 years ago from Essex but have stayed at the Foxglove over the past 10+ years when visiting our daughter who went to Huddersfield University and is now teaching music at Holmfirth High School. If anyone visiting Huddersfield or the surrounding areas we would recommend not only the Foxglove as somewhere to stay overnight at in their great accommodation rooms but also to eat at in the evenings. Service is top class and very friendly. Food cannot be faulted which is why we always give a good tip at the end of our meal. we went to Sunday afternoon and had a table booked. I had fish and chips and my man and my daughter had burger. the food was served piping hot and was delicious. my fish was perfectly boiled and served with chips, mushy heaps and tartar sauce. the burgers looked good. my daughter changed her fries to sweet potato fries for a 50p extra fee, but she said they were delicious. my man ordered a shandy, but was served as a pint of abbotts. to the luck he noticed and it was changed quickly. unfortunately we were too full of desserts. we have eaten here often and I'm sure we're coming back. it is a beautiful place for all age groups. everyone is very helpful and the service is good.

Whenever anyone visits Huddersfield or the surrounding area, we highly recommend staying overnight at The Foxglove. They have spacious rooms and the service is exceptional and very friendly. The food is always delicious, which is why we always leave a generous tip at the end of our meal. The prices are reasonable and we especially enjoy sitting by the open fire during the autumn and winter months. Give The Foxglove a try, you won't be disappointed and will surely return for more.
My meal, fish and chips, was average and I ate everything. However, my father's steak was very fatty and gristly, but he wasn't blamed for his meal choice. The other two meals, hunter's chicken and sweet tart, were also just okay. The hunter's chicken was mostly fat and the diner mentioned it was simply okay, although not everyone enjoyed it. The sweet tart had lots of olives, which weren't mentioned in the description and not everyone liked them. Overall, it was just an okay meal for Father's Day. Everyone has different tastes, so it's best to try it for yourself.

My food was okay (fish and chips) and I ate it all. My dad's steak was a lot of fat and gristle (he wasn't charged for his meal). The other 2 meals were Hunter's Chicken (the bacon was just fat and the diner also said this was just okay although didn't eat it all) and vegetable tart (which consisted of a lot of olives which weren't in the description diner doesn't like olives). So all in all just 2 okay meals for Father's Day. Everybody is different so try it for yourself.
The usual enjoyable experience at this restaurant was slightly disappointing this time around. The change in the hunters chicken dish, where small pieces of gammon were replaced with speck, felt like a downgrade.
