I had a business dinner last Tuesday the 3rd and I was very early. I sat at the bar and was warmly greeted and had a nice conversation about the menu and wine choices. The bartender was awesome I'm sorry I don't remember her name. She had recommendations about dinner and paired a perfect wine for the meal. I feel that the experience here has only gotten better with time, and their current location inside the old Espada is the perfect vibe for their style. Seems like there's something for everyone on the menu; but if you want something a little custom in the way of comfort food, try my guilty pleasure — the goat cheese mac and cheese, with a side of their meat sauce. UPDATE: returned here for a get together with friends. The manager Julie was extremely rude and unprofessional. Food was mediocre and prices have increased. Disappointed at how this place seems to have failed over the past year or so. Probably won’t return. We could not have asked for more accommodating receptionist. We arrive almost and hour before our reservation time and they had the 6 of us seated in less than 15 minutes. The restaurant was very busy at the time. Our server Stacey was way above and beyond. Two of us wanted to share a salad and it was delivered in separate dishes. We did not have do anything. We didn’t have a reservation but they seated us on the small patio in 15 mins (and in the meantime, the little courtyard had space for kids to toodle around, checking out art and burning a bit of pent up energy). The vibe was great — casual but still nice. Locals brought their pups to the patio, and the servers brought dog bowls out to them. The bathrooms were large and clean. All staff and servers were attentive with napkins, water refills and clearing.
I love the Gate House. A large group of friends and I attended for the first time in November and I will only continue to go back. This is my husband's and mine new favorite spot in Rochester. All the food we have tried in our visits has been delicious. As silly as it sounds, they have the best Cesar Salad I've ever had. If you're in town or even local and haven't tried this place, I'd highly recommend it.
We had a terrible experience, it seemed like every single employee we interacted with went out of their way to be rude to our party. In addition we spent over $300 and the food wasn’t very good. Fortunately I was with a great group of people and we didn’t let it spoil the evening. I definitely won’t be going back.
This place was awesome!! We had a large party of 8 for lunch. We all had a great time and the food was so delicious!! Definitely will be back for a date night or brunch again.
