Every time Consett greets me with a hearty welcome back, this place beckons me come hither and partake. And..I do with gusto. Lovely warm and friendly great home made (micro brewery) beers and good chat. It's a middle age to older man's pub (there's not many of those around any more) and no TV or music (other than the live 2/3 peices they have occasionally). I don't think they do food? It can be said that men need the company of other men and the shared company of good ale to feel grounded and self assured. I felt better after 4 pints and a varied, funny and inciteful convo. Recommended.
Great little pub. Friendly, busy comfy and great atmosphere. Have loads of things on during the year. Beer fest, quiz nights and a beer belly race for charity. They brew their own beer too. Ole rosy is rather popular, unfortunately I'm not a beer drinker so can't comment.
Very friendly place with excellent selection of genuine Ales. Dog-friendly. The bar lady came to our table to give our dog a cookie
Fabulous pub, very reasonable prices. Some really good beers to try. We will be back
