Although the previous reviewer's comments are limited, he pretty much hits the nail on the head. This is possibly the best pub for miles, we drive there regularly to eat and drink. To give you some background, the place used to be run by an old alcoholic sociopath who was a lot more happy seeing people walk out of the door than ruin his quiet afternoon. Whilst highly amusing to watch, it was never going to last. The pub was taken over by a young couple and their friend who, between them have won awards for the food and for the standard of the beer over the last 5 years. The pub is a grade 2 listed building and absolutely seeps with atmosphere. The locals were initially put out at the fact th...

Bloomin brilliant! My first experience at the Half Moon was this week, though I had heard great things about it already I was not disappointed. An old, characterful pub that has carefully and sympathetically restored to its current condition by the current owners who have put even more effort into creating an inviting and delicious menu that blows the socks off any other pub (and indeed many high class restaurants, too! . This place will restore your faith in fantastic, inventive and delicious, home cooked food. The menu exceeds all expectations in terms of variety, taste and value. They have a refreshing an unusual approach to booking and reservations, too they dont do it! So, you can alway...

Dating back to the 18th century, this pretty village pub has recently had the life breathed back into it. It is now a gastropub of some note. And judging by the sublimely delicious meal that we had last night, with good reason. The menu is mouthwatering and the food actually manages to exceed expectations both in taste and in terms of its almost sculpted visual appearance. I could go on about it, but it's probably better that you just jump in the car and go there! And at only five minutes off the main A23 to the north of Brighton, it's pretty handy for lunch stops, Sunday walks or early evening food drinks on the way home.

A bit off the beaten path, and not exactly where the map said. At the intersection of Cuckfield and The Street. My husband was quite pleased with his fish and chips. I enjoyed my special a salad with grilled halloumi, grapes, oranges, grilled cherry tomatoes. We shared a delicious dessert with elderflower Panna Cotta, Hendricks sorbet, and poached gooseberries. YUMMY! We both enjoyed our beverages as well, me an English brut sparkling wine, and him Speckled Hen bitter. A lovely launch for our Suseex road trip.
