We were out with friends on a late Sunday afternoon, and decided to check out The Happy Shag for dinner. What a location...overlooking the Swan River great range of drinks and a fantastic menu that would satisfy most tastes...including great pizzas.I recommend the steak burger...and it was a real juicy tasty steak...none of those waffer thin excuses for steak meat here. It is the real thing. Also think the fish and chips, chicken parmagiana and the pizza are a definite choice - great serving sizes. Add really friendly team members and we had a fantastic time.Good music playing with a great vibe from the crowd... consisting of people of all ages...so its not an oldies nor a youngster hang out...
We decided to give The Happy Shag a visit on a Saturday afternoon in December. We had my parents (in their 70's) and my young teenage daughter with me. After spending $25 on a taxi to get there, we were welcomed at the door by bouncers talking to some young girls and guys. We stood at the doors, (that the bouncers were obscuring) but were not shown in, or even greeted. We walked away and went somewhere else!!There are enough places in Perth to try - this one missed the boat for us unfortunately.
Went there for a drink and because of the name. A great photo op. The bar is well located and seating easy to get. Spoilt by the fact they are driving pileings into the river next to the bar. Very noisey but that will be temporary. Good selection of beer and service. View from gents is a bit odd with one way windows. I like this type of whimsy allied to good beer, in a good location. Did not try the food as we had eaten already.
We came across The Happy Shag out walking by the river and looking for lunch. On a sunny day, sitting outside under an umbrella, it was great. Not a place to go for lunch if in a hurry. Food is fresh and cooked on the premises and is very slow in delivery but worth it. $24 Med pizza was enormous, enough for two, as was my partner's parmigiana. Excellent and friendly service. Nice cold beers on tap. Could not be faulted

Finished a river cruise with another couple, happy and heading home! The name made us smile so decided to check it out. Had a great easy, counter type meal. We all thoroughly enjoyed. Great atmosphere, lots of happy people. Tables could have done with a wipe down (pretty sticky) but overall a great pub and great pub meal. Would go again!
Lovely quayside restaurant/bar very busy place we sat outdoors overlooking the water very pleasant plenty of outdoor seating large bar with plenty of drinks choice. Good choice menu and food served quickly and of good quality reasonable prices. Great place try it!
Great place....the meals were varied and very nice. The staff were just lovely ! We ate here twice and had totally different styles of meals and they were all delicious.
