Called in for a few drinks and a bar meal, family of 6,of which 2 are regular uses of the pub. In 35 years of using pubs in and around Chesterfield, this was the worst experience ever from start to finish. Bar staff slow and...rude,food arrived over a hour after ordering, even though the pub was quiet. The food finally arrived and this is when the experience went from bad to absolutely terrible, children portion sizes,cold,uncooked food,just a disaster. Asked to speak to the landlord and eventually Tom came over,said he wasn't the landlord but was the landladys husband,kept saying he was very sorry for the experience but was doing nothing to help rectify the situation. Went here last night for a meal opted for one of the toasted sandwiches it was dreadful. It was supposed to be toasted not stale bread Swimming in mayo and where was the Bacon on my chicken and bacon sandwich same place as toaster or...grill…..none existent. All in all I paid just over a fiver for a mayo sandwich with about 3 lumps of chicken on it. To make matters worse I had to wait 30mins for a sandwich. It was not just my food that was rubbish a friends veggie lasagne looked like and tasted like it wasn’t even heated up, the pie that another friend ordered was soggy and cold. Gosh there are so many bad reviews of many established places like this. So very unfortunate because the young people who work in these places don't deserve to be put in such a disappointing position Often there his very little if any staff training and...the moral very poor We see that family run pubs do a lot better because they do not advertise and very much work on the basis of reputation and not passing trade
Had lunch here the other day, good service and food was fine. My husband said his burger was burnt I think it was charcoal smoked (i like it like that) I think it was down to preference. thought a pound for 3 onion rings were...a bit steep. What you expect from a chain.
