Vegetarian sandwiches provided consisted of cucumber bread and cheese tomato, very unimaginative. The sandwiches had been exposed to the air for sometime as they were dry and hard. We were given berries with mould on them. Upon arrival we were ignored at the restaurant reception before finally being shown to a table in the bar. Since we'd booked a table in the restaurant this was not ideal. The consequence of being put in the bar want we had no table service at all, our drinks were not refilled, our plates were not cleared. At any point that we needed assistance we had to go and find a member of staff, for someone with limited mobility this is challenging. To top if off we were then charged...
My wife and I visited the Larder Restaurant at the Hilton on a Thursday evening in February. Despite our initial low expectations for a hotel restaurant, we were pleasantly surprised. From the moment we arrived, we received excellent service throughout the evening. My request for modifications to my main course was promptly accommodated. We especially enjoyed the complimentary canapes that were served. I had the duck breast and my wife had the rump of lamb, both dishes were cooked to perfection and delicious. We definitely plan on returning soon!
