This was my last venue of the day on the recent Pubs Galore trip to Burton and I found it a very good micro pub. A single thin room I’m guessing shop conversion) with differing seating styles and then the benefit of a sizeable additional outside section at the back. Beers come from racked barrels in a small cooler room behind the main serving area. We called in here before a game at the Pirelli Stadium as, apart from Tim Martin’s chain pub, it’s the only bar near the station that is open by 11:00 on Saturdays. What a find, lovely owners, great beers and a welcoming atmosphere. 7 cask beers, all well kept and served straight from the barrel, are listed on the blackboard. They also keep a wide range of quality end spirits, mulled wine and ‘winter warmers’. There is a good outside area which I can imagine will be well used in summer; I was there in February.

Stumbled upon The last Heretic whilst looking for the restaurant 2 doors down the road from it and thought we'd call in for a pre-dinner drink just to see what it's like... very pleased we did. Only had a quick pint which was perfect but the selection of ale was enough to guarantee our return.

First visit to Burton-on-Trent for a few years and found this gem of a micropub, great selection of ales as you'd expect all served from a microbar with the cellar right behind it. Nice outside area for those wanting fresh air and loads of things to see inside. As for the Pickled Onions!!!!!
