After reading the good reviews we gave it a go. Sadly we were disappointed. Service was pretty poor, we felt like an inconvenience and the staff seemed quite indifferent towards us. Waited for a table to be ready for us even though we booked, then waited ages to even see the menu. Asked the waitress for drinks and it was as if we were hassling her. Hoped the food would live up to the hype, but it was distinctly average. The roast was ok, not the best, not the worst. Slightly better than a carvery, however the beef was chewy and the roast potatoes weren’t nice at all. Roast chicken and pork were nice, as was the cauliflower cheese. This small, traditional-style pub feels like a blast from the past when you walk in, reminiscent of the 1970s. The interior could use some more lighting to brighten things up a bit. It's a bit off the beaten path, just outside the town center, but definitely worth a visit if you come across it. Despite its size, the pub has a warm and cozy atmosphere with friendly service. In addition to the main bar area, there is a spacious conservatory at the back where they also serve food.
