The food here is fabulous. The place is only let down by the service. My 3 stars are for the chef and their team in the kitchen. We had a seafood platter to start which had some amazing tastes. The best thing on that platter being the smoked mackerel pate. For mains I had the lamb burger with goats cheese and my husband had the pie of the day (chicken and tarragon) both bursting with flavour and beautifully cooked. All the food eaten was excellent value for money. The decor here is quirky love the bottle covered ceiling. Seating is nicely arranged. This place should be getting 5 stars every time if it were not for the staff serving. Numerous times we had to try and get the attention of the n...

It can be lovely but here and then not very good so not sure if different chefs working I’m vegan so hardly anything so have to go vegetarian for that day but even then not much choice . I appreciate it’s a steakhouse but other steakhouses have vegan and vegetarian offers . The one week we came I had a lovely Thai curry but the following week it seemed like just a tin of chic peas in a coconut sauce with rice shoved on the side . Another week we came as live nearby and it’s a nice atmosphere the owner seems nice and a hard worker . Pitches in with the young bar staff . I asked for veggie roast And my partner had meat roast . He was pleased with his but mine consisted of just vegetables . To...

We popped into this pub for lunch having unsuccessfully tried to get lunch at another place in the next village. The Oak steakhouse, like the previous place we tried, has an additional, separately branded eatery which, at the Oak, is called the Twisted Spoon. However, unlike the previous place, you have access to both the Oak's Steakhouse menu and The Twisted Spoon's menu wherever you sit which is really good. The food was was very tasty and served quickly by a nice friendly waitress. Surprisingly busy for a Tuesday lunchtime in March One panini, one sandwich, two portions of chips, a soft drink and a large glass of white wine £25.15

Graham Priestley 5/5 20 hours ago on Google Just spent the coronation weekend in the area and can't recommend this pub highly enough. We had our breakfasts here and a Sunday roast. The food is superb all locally sourced and they get their sausages done to their own recipe by a butcher. They are delicious . The quality is very high and very good value for the price. The staff and landlady are very friendly and helpful. If your ever in the area then I highly recommend it. They also serve the breakfast in a tea room called the twisted spoon which is adjacent to the pub if you'd rather eat in a cafe environment than the pub. Book a table now

We actually came for the Twisted Spoon but they were full so they offered us a table in the pub which takes up most of the building. It's table service in the pub, which is great. We had iced coffee and ice cream so didn't see the pub menu. But service was good, and cake on offer looked great. There are outside tables and the occasional chicken wandering through the garden. There are 2 steps from the main entrance up to the pub and toilets but the café part is via a slope. Pub was pretty cool considering how hot it was.

We stayed here in our motorhome having struggled to find somewhere to eat on a Monday night, and happened upon their Steak Night. The staff were ever so welcoming, and efficient, and having been in the trade ourselves for the last 20 years we know how hard it is. The food was lovely and we’d really recommend this lovely village pub

We are house sitting locally and thought it would be good to try a local eatery. We are so pleased we tried the Oak House as the staff were particularly friendly, the food was superb and at a reasonable price. It’s a pity we don’t live nearby as this would definitely warrant a regular visit. Thank you all.

Had a super meal at The Oak. Gammon Steak with all the trimmings was excellent and side order of Onion Rings to die for. My wife’s Lamb Tagine was excellent tender and tasty. Recommend beer was very good too, super staff too very attentive and courteous definitely worth a visit.
